Hero Quest is coming back -

It's supposedly a physical board game because there's a rumored joke themed one "for Girls" where the props are all pink and all the characters are female except the dwarf looks the same. That might be the Pulse Exclusive one because they did the AD&D My little Pony set the same way.

hasbro don't give no fucks

In the Monopoly Socialism game players move around the board working together to make a better community by managing and contributing to projects such as a no-tip vegan restaurant, an all-winners school, or a museum of co-creation. But nobody said that cooperation is easy! Drawing a Chance card presents the flip side of striving for the perfect utopian society. You'll have issues with your neighbors, your DIY community projects go awry, you're constantly voting to shake things up, and there's always an emergency that requires dipping into the Community Fund! Contribute all 10 of your chips to win the game, unless the Community Fund runs out of money and everyone loses. So much for a socialist utopia.

(this one triggered the sois hard)

Money doesn't always buy a great time, but experiences, whether they're good -- or weird -- last forever. The Monopoly for Millennials game celebrates just that. Instead of collecting as much cash as possible, players are challenged to rack up the most Experiences to win. Travel around the gameboard discovering and visiting cool places to eat, shop, and relax. Interact with other players via Chance and Community Chest cards, (which are super relatable). And players don't pay rent -- they visit one another, earning more Experience points. This board game is a great way to bring a fun and relaxed vibe to a party or casual get-together.

MONOPOLY FOR MILLENNIALS GAME: Adulting is hard; take a break from the rat race with this edition of the Monopoly game

PARTY BOARD GAME: This Monopoly game is a great choice for Millennials who need a break from the life of adulting; great for parties and get-togethers

CHOOSE COOL PLACES AND DESTINATIONS: Collect Experience points by visiting the hottest Destinations -- from your Friend's Couch, to the Vegan Bistro, to a Week-Long Meditation Retreat

SET THE TREND: Collect money from players who visit the Destinations you discovered first

IT'S ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE: In this version of the Monopoly game, the player who collects the most Experience -- not the most money -- wins the game

It's true you don't see many dwarf women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for dwarf men.

And this in turn has given rise to the belief that there are no dwarf women, and that dwarves just spring out of holes in the ground!

Which is, of course, ridiculous.

It's very appropriate for Prachett Discworld dwarves who have no sexual dimorphism or female pronouns.

IIRC Hasbro tried repurposing Heroquest a while back, skinned and tweaked for Magic the Gathering as Duel of the Planeswalkers.

It actually wasn't a terrible spin off. It probably could of been a successful venture had Hasbro not completely fucked it up. It was released as a mass market release of a niche game. Big box stores were flooded with them, and the first two expansion, to the point that Amazon was constantly selling them for 50-75% off, and Big Lots and 5 Below were hocking them for even less.

It's also clearly a larger designed system that was released as a basic bitch content for your autistic crotch spawn who washes his ritalin down with rubber cement. The core rules reference mechanics that are never seen, there are rules for deck building that there is little to no options for.

They stripped down a potentially fun niche 60-100 dollar box set with massive expansion potential, and tried to lobotomize it to the point it could be released on the shelves next to games like Candyland.

Had it been started at the hobby stores and built up organically, it could of been a lot of fun.

Depends on the particular fantasy universe doesn't it?

I recently bought the similar Dragonstrike board game, but I considered HeroQuest, although Dragonstrike looked a bit cooler to me.

HeroQuest is still on my radar though and I'm glad I waited because now I can see what this is, even if it's just a reprinting of the old game it'll be nice to buy a brand new copy instead of a used one.

>Never getting a dwarf short-stack wife that lovingly forges dwarven plate armor for your adventures (:_(

I'm sure you could get someone with a resemblance to cosplay for you.

If it’s released by hasbro as a board game it will run about £40 - £50 if games workshop release it they’ll come out about £90.

Worst possible outcome it’s a mobile game.

If you want to play computer Hero Quest you could always emulate the Atari ST or Amiga version, or find the PC version on some abandonware site.

HQ got my whole family into miniature painting; by the time expansions were released, we were fighting over dibs on who got to paint what. My dad even ordered a couple replacement sets of monsters to paint so my siblings & stepmom would quit bickering.

We also left the original rules & storyline quests behind fairly quickly, and progressed into adapting AD&D rules for the game out of boredom, while using two or more different boards simultaneously.

I still wonder where all those things went, it'd save me a shitload of time doing it all over again.
