For an ending to a cliffhanger to a kids cartoon made 10 years after the fact this was a pretty great movie.

I just think it's pretty cool that this got made at all since the creator has been trying to get it done for years, and that Nick allowed him to show people straight up getting killed by pirates.

Depending on marketing this movie could end up being one of two thing. It'll either be an embarrassing flop that proves that the old nick cartoons are a thing of the past or, it could be a box office hit that brings Hey Arnold to a whole new generation of kids.

I hope it's the former.

I don't think I can handle Hey Arnold being drawn into the Tumblrverse and everyone applying their snowflake genders to them with all the prerequisite tranny rage.

Apparently the creator had scripts and ideas for a new season drawn up for a long time because he was planning for this movie to come out way sooner, but then the hey arnold movie that came out in theaters turned out to be a huge flop so Nick canceled it.

I'm not sure this is even playing where I live. Hopefully they don't chicken out and ruin things by erasing all of the character development at the end of the movie like last time.

It already came out on Friday. It was shown on Nick. The Splat was marathoning every episode of Hey Arnold! to lead up to it...

I didn't see it but the general buzz is that it's pretty good, which is a great relief; I was hoping the show wouldn't be screwed up. Myself, however, I'm waiting for the Rocko movie when that comes out...

Compared to how some other people have been doing their reboots lately, this one's knocked it out of the park.

They got most everyone back; the only people who aren't have either aged out of the roles or have died.
I agree, they also made Lasombra a pretty great villain!

I remember learning about how this was cancelled a long time ago and I always wondered what could've been, so It's pretty amazing that after all this time it's finally out. It wrapped everything up nicely and put a bow on top that fans have always wanted. This along with the Samurai Jack revival season has made this a great year in giving old series' the send off they deserve.

I saw it when it came out live on Nick. It was actually pretty alright. The animation was amazing and smooth, and seeing all the school kids and other characters in hd really brought back fond memories of watching hey anorld as a kid.

The voices for the characters were alright, which is understandable since they couldnt bring back all the original voice actors.

The storyline was nice and actually solved what happened to his parents. It was quite touching in the end, and even had a callback to the tittle of the show "hey anorld" . They actually did show pirates dying. It was quite jairing for the movie.

I had to admit that Anorld was really the original hipster, expect instead of drinking high priced coffee and reading difficult books, Anorld actually helped people and really made a difference in his community.

Also
Anorld finds out Helga loves him, when her gold heart locket helped saved his parents. And they kissed and became a couple in the end as well as Gerald and Helga's friend. So be prepared for a lot of fanfics for the show

He also had plans years ago for a spinoff of Hey Arnold showing revolving around Helga as a teenager and her family. It was intended to air on MTV and would of dealt with darker and more adult themes such as Helga's moms alcoholism.

I thought it was pretty cute and a good conclusion for the show. I'm not even a big fan of the show and enjoyed the Jungle Movie.

lmao it's a cartoon for children

Hey Arnold was pretty great, actually. It had a diverse cast - in the true sense of the word - and focused on some pretty dark shit for a kid's show. Helga's mom was a thinly-veiled alcoholic, there was an episode about a Vietnamese guy who had to give up his daughter to save her from war, and generally the issues the characters dealt with felt real and consequential, even though the show got pretty weird sometimes. I remember one episode about the grandma saving a sea turtle that actually got kind of poignant at the end. I think there was another one where Arnold helped out a homeless guy, took him to dinner or something. They lived in the inner city so poverty was a big theme.

Yes, Hey Arnold was for children, but not in the way you think. It was a show about kids living in different and sometimes difficult situations that didn't condescend to its target audience. I think a lot of people have fond memories of this show because when we were kids the stories felt real and relatable in a way we'd never experienced before, in a show made for us. Hey Arnold was special.

Yeah, it just wasn't afraid to go into themes that were a little more adult than other kids cartoons regular plot lines, like dysfunctional relationships between people with Pigeon Man shunning all human connection or Oscar being a greedy sponge who only survives because his wife loves and takes care of him. I think the best episode is when they go deeper into the whole gag of Helga secretly loving Arnold but being outwardly mean to him and it reveals the only reason why she feels affection for him is because he was the only person to give her any kind of attention after her parents didn't care about her at all.
