What do you think is Chris's biggest problem, the root cause of his failtastic plunge towards entropy?

I'd say it's plain old stupidity. If he was somewhat intelligent, or even highly intelligent, he could have found ways to work around his problems. He could have devised ways to earn money without too much work or social interaction (maybe some sort of donation-based web project like some webcomic artists do). Given some intellect, he could have figured out how the real world works and played the rules to his advantage. I think the reason he, in reality, crashes and burns is basically a lack of learning ability (though it could be argued that given enough diligence he could have overcome this problem, so the root cause would be laziness).

His Autism is his biggest problem. All those other issues are things people without autism can overcome. Yeah he had bad parenting, but a lot of people with bad parents still go on to do great things with their life.

If Chris could solve any one of these problems, he could probably at least avoid getting banned from everywhere.

This is sorta like trying to identify which exact part of this thing is the reason why it doesn't fly.

The biggest problem of Chris is Chris himself.
Gotta agree. Chris is just the perfect storm of bad parenting, ego, untreated problems and enabling.

I went with Education/Knowledge because main-streaming ruined any chances Chris had of understanding that other people have their own thoughts and feelings.

As an autistic person, I can tell you his autism is the least of his problems. By far.

I'd say it's his naivety combined with his utter selfishness and refusal to take responsibility for his actions.

Entitlement, specifically that engendered by Bob.

While Barb has shown Chris that the proper response to not getting your way is to pitch a conniption fit, Bob was the one who truly showed Chris that it's OK to be a drain on others' resources. (As seen with the tugboat, his hours spent loitering in stores, his mainstream education, et cetera.)

His inability to take any interest in anything that doesn't instantly benefit or interest him. That's why he can't hold a conversation with anyone but Sonichu, which would lead to his complete ignorance of social behavior. This flaw also made sure he would have no innate curiosity of any kind, so of course he knows nothing about the world or society at large; all he knows is video games and My Little Pony (which might be his biggest interest at the moment it would seem).

I said laziness because if he wanted to change and was willing to work hard he'd be able to solve his problems. Or at least he'd be able to have a better life, even retarded people who want to work have decent lives, so lacking intelligence/education isn't the worst of his problems.

But he's entitled and thinks he doesn't need to change, so that isn't happening.

I would say Chris's biggest problem is his raw, untamed sensuality.

Nah, it's the narcissism.

I agree. Most of the characteristics here, Chris has, but not to a degree never seen in other functional people.

We start with autism. Because he had autism and his parents didn't really know a lot about what that was, he was treated as if he was special. When confronted with something his autism made hard, they didn't teach him coping mechanisms, they told him to ignore it.

This leads to entitlement issues. He was taught that problems don't apply to him because he had autism. As he grows up with the entitlement issues, it is easy for them to turn into narcissism. His parents think he can't handle things basically because he is too bad for them, but they try to be nice about it he gets the message he is to good for them.

Since he is never taught these coping mechanisms, he doesn't learn how to process information (stupidity) and is enabled/encouraged to stay in his comfort zone (immaturity).

As he turns into an adult, his initial forays into the real world (Wendy's, etc.) turn out badly. His immaturity and stupidity probably cause this. Again, he isn't taught coping mechanisms or anything, just taught that work isn't for him. There is no need at this point to learn how the world works, and he quickly becomes unemployable. He still gets most of the stuff he wants and needs leading to laziness.

He now has all of the traits which are combining to hold him back. But he is unable to do anything about it, largely because he is autism prevents him from recognizing it.
