I never tried this shit before, but in light of the Google controversy I wanted to switch browsers. Edge is still non-functional so I tried Vivaldi and oh my god, it's the best of Edge, Chrome, and Firefox and has a ton of features I could only get through addons in Chrome. It even performs better. Seriously guys try this shit. You can even use Chrome plugins in it.

And before anyone says it, yes I know it's based off Chromium.

Isn't it ultimately based on Opera, though?

I really hate all the browsers out there. They're just piles of dicks. Piled on tops of piles of even more dicks.

It's made by the guy who made Opera (the good version, not the new shit version everyone hates)
It's basically Chrome with a better interface, tons of settings and features, and performs a little better

ye I use Vivaldi as well.

It doesn't send any information to Google.
Same reason why I moved to Vivaldi a bit ago.

Ever since Firefox told old timey addon makers to fuck off to cater to normies all web browsers are basically the same thing with different UIs.

KF is about all I use Chrome for now (I had multiple users because multiple Google accounts and mostly paranoia, but I've since switched to other browsers for the other shit). I used Vivaldi back when it was still a really early alpha and couldn't get on with it. I'll try it out again though.

Does Vivaldi have multi-user support or is that a Chrome only thing?

As far as I can tell it's still just one user. But users in a web-browser is more of a cloud-oriented thing than something for end-users to care about. If it counts for anything, Vivaldi's default installation path is your local AppData folder, so it installs per-user in your OS by default.

Maybe you can run the installer multiple times and have it install to different folders for different users?

damn i thought this was going to be about baroque music :heart-empty:

I like Vivaldi the composer, too, if it means anything.

It has a really annoying bug with the backspace key though, I had to remove backspace as a hotkey for Back.
A lot of it is JavaScript and xml, so I wouldn't be surprised if the backspace bug is fixable.

I use the beta build.

Vivaldi is built like a portable browser so yes.

Does anyone know about Torch? I think I like Torch. But I don't know.
Nigga that shit is adware and infected my PC. Are you trying to give your computer aids?

That's what I ended up doing. I now have a Vivaldi install for my Kiwi shit and one for my personal Google account. It's a lot more polished than when I last saw it, and I like that all of my extensions can come with me. It really is just a better Chrome.

One of my favorite features is that the closed tabs are right at the top of the window, rather than buried under two dozen menus like in every other browser.

I had the same problem, writing messages on KF was a pain in the ass when you were suddenly thrown back a page.

Otherwise it's the best browser I've seen. Chromium-based, true, but with much better functionality for autistic cunts power users. Tab stacks especially.

Necroing, but I've been playing with more and more of Vivaldi's features lately. I fucking love web panels. I usually have Vivaldi on my second computer full screen, and it's a big screen, so that's a lot of wasted real estate. Being able to take a big chunk of that and use it for my email or YouTube saves me from having to waste tab space on it, and I usually have too many of those as it is.

Tab stacking is also really cool, but it's kinda hard to switch between ones in a stack because the buttons are tiny.
