Kiwis who have worked fast food. I have only worked in retail and know the pains of dealing with customers up close. But, what stories do you have from behind the ordering counter/drive window?
Gross customers, odd orders or perhaps a drive thru free for all brawl?
I am generally interested in odd or horrifying stories from the people that make my McTendies.

Friend of mine worked in a Tim Hortons- they had a massive mice problem and they had to put poison pellets everywhere with no precaution to make sure either the mice feces or the mouse poison cross contaminated the food, if a mice was found dead they just chucked that little fuckers corpse out the back door or occasionally into the bushes.

Any food that could be kept past it's due date without affecting the taste or appearance wasn't throw out till it started showing signs of going bad, and the frosting tubes get filthy quickly if they are not cleaned frequently and tip had a bug crawling on it once.

Not sure if this counts as fast food, but I worked at an Applebee's for a while. Massive roach problem that the GM refused to acknowledge because shutting the place down long enough to take care of it would mean we wouldn't be able to sell shitty boneless wings.

Also, ran out of the special soap (essentially lowgrade acid) for the dishwasher for like a week before anyone cared to notice. All kinds of ungodly things can be spread via saliva.

Fun times. I do not regret leaving that shithole.

I got several since I worked at Taco Bell before my junior during high school until a few weeks after I graduated.

I usually got stuck cleaning the restroom half the time, and a few tines I saw and cleaned smeared shit all over the toilet and stalls, left over drugs, blood, and needles. and this happened no more than 8 time since I was there.

The kitchen had a lot of ants and roaches and they just put sticky traps and insect spray around until the manager finally temporarily closed it down to get it fixed.

One woman threw her drink at me because one of the cooks made her wrong item, demanded her money back and ended up leaving.

Another one had a tantrum out and threw her food at us because she didn't like it and didn't give it to fast enough, called us idiots and left.

One drunk guy came and ordered a few tacos and pulled his out dick and waved a female co worker of mine because she thought she was cute and the manager didn't just told him to put away and went back to work as usual. And the man actually gave her his number despite the fact he was married, and it turns out he was actually a teacher from our middle school.

Used to be a cook in McJewnolds back in 2009. 2009 as we all know was an odd year, so I got a 2 good quick stories.

One time some drunk guy walked in around 3 in the afternoon. He comes up and asks the cashier for "food". Not a specific order, just "food". The cashier asked what he wanted and he said "something to give me sustenance." and the cashier asks for him to clarify once more. He says "nuggerts"and puts down a 10 dollar bill. We make him the nuggerts and give it to him. When he gets it he just eats it then and there, right in front of us in like 3 bites. Then he threw it away by placing it by the trash and left.

Another time some teen drove in blasting Le' Dubstep through his headphones. Super fucking loud. Not like you could tell it was there, but it was possible to ignore it. No, it was like medium-volume YouTube video loud, at like 15 feet away.
This was at the drive through. I could hear it from the kitchen it was that fucking loud, through his headphones.

I used to work for Hardee's (Carl's Jr for people on the west coast) back in the day. It was easily the worst job I've ever had. Little pay, few hours, both the customers and staff were assholes. Something the manager did that I didn't pick up on at the time but realized later, was that she would intentionally put people on closing shift if she wanted to get rid of them. This is because she wrote out the daily schedules for staff, and stacked the closing staff with so much extra shit that anyone in their right mind would just leave. 1st and especially 2nd shift had it very easy by comparison. Whenever I worked 2nd, I would have the entire list completed within 2 hours, and then stand around doing nothing except make the occasional burger. Note, she didn't put incompetent/lazy people on closing, she was trying to get rid of people she personally didn't like, as if the place was her own personal clubhouse and not a business. She was also an admitted sexist, as in, she openly stated that she hated men. She apparently went through a bad divorce and treated male employees especially badly. Every single supervisor there was female. I quit because I was put on 2 week suspension for not covering someone else's shift in a snowstorm. I live on top of a mountain with some pretty bad roads, so risking my car/life to cover a shift at a burger joint obviously wasn't worth it. The person who was supposed to work and called out received no punishment. I was hit with a 2 week suspension.

I really doubt any of this is unique to me, but since you were curious and all

Not really what you were looking for, but when I was 9 or 10 I was in a McDonalds with my mom when a gigantic group of what I assume were Puerto Ricans started beating the shit out of each other. I remember a puddle of blood on the floor that looked like spilled fruit punch. My mom carried me like a football under her arm and ran out the door. I remember watching a report about it on the news that night. I was scared of every little thing that happened for about a year after that.

Got another one: my next job was food prep/line cook/cashier at a Japanese fast food place in a food court. Was faster to bike 45 minutes across town than rely on the bus but whatever, I was young and in decent shape.

Anyway, the manager didn't want me cleaning the mushrooms before I cut and stored them. I know a lot of you NEETs don't know how the world works but those little white mushrooms are grown in sheep shit, which smells like death and has the consistency of wet clay. I'd eat a cow puck before I ate an unwashed mushroom. This is just incidental, though.

So we sliced the meat (beef/pork/chicken breast) from frozen on a deli meat slicer; same thing they cut your ham on in the grocery store. I'd been there a few months and the blade was getting dull and shredding the meat instead of cutting it; no bueno. So the boss and I sharpen the blade up all nice and purty and then I get down to another 20 pound box of chicken breast. Well, I was young and stupid about safety so I didn't have my thumb hooked onto the handle properly, I was just palming it as usual, plugging away until BAM! something jams the carriage and my hand slips off and subsequently punches the blade.

I turn the machine off quickly and then look down to the pool of dark red blood on the floor while the pain starts screaming at me. Boss patched me up and I waited the hour and a half for a bus to go home. Turned out I'd gone through the middle knuckle on my right pointer finger to the depth of about 1/4 inch. I'm sure I lost some bone and God DAMN it hurts in the cold sometimes even 15 years later and that scar is with me for life. Also, I'd lopped off the tip of my thumb at about a 45° angle to, again, a depth of 1/4 inch or so. Luckily that healed just fine and never bothers me.

Obey all safety rules and use your equipment safely, faggots. Also, don't work in fast food past the age of 18.

I worked at a mcdonalds as my first job and that place sucked the lifeforce out of me.
We had every manager ether be fat as fuck or not speak english (sometimes both). The gm was a massive cunt that if she didn't like you, would go out of her way to point out even the tiniest of faults to the whole crew while completely ignoring other problems going on. Another manager was really lazy and would hide out in the storage area when it got busy. He also would demand fresh everything and would throw a fit if he didn't see you just take it out of the fryer or grill and would throw it away in front of you (he pissed me off the most). There was a crew member that was of every ethnicity imaginable that always came to work 30 minutes to an hour late and stunk of weed. He would get off on pissing people off by being super annoying and making loud noises when working. Apparently he still works there to this day.
Our dining room was a haven for tweakers and homeless people. There was many stories of people shooting up in the bathrooms. One of these tweakers was following young girls around in the parking lot and when we called the cops on him, he hid in the womans bathroom and spread shit all over the walls. Guess who had to clean that up. There was a homeless woman that looked 70 years old that was a regular loiter throwing huge rocks at another regular loiter out in the back and after that, we finally enforced our 'no loitering' policy... for about a week and then we just decited to ignore it again.
The place was riddled with cockroaches and flies. Everytime there was a crew appreciation day, one of the managers would bring a bunch of food and it would all sit there in the crew room uncovered for days and stink the place up. WE HAD TO TAKE MEAL BREAKS THERE.
I worked there full time for 2 years so I have plenty more to sperg about but this is getting kinda long.

Worked at a Taco Bell for over a year. Not only that, but worked in a shitty and sketchy area. Some highlights include:
-Someone lighting a fire behind my car on my first day
-Someone dumping a full sized mattress into our parking lot. No reason. Had needles sticking out of it. No one would move it but me.
-Someone LITERALLY DYING across the street
-Someone stealing a piece of our toilet. I learned how to be a plumber that day.
-One time they made me reach into a used toilet to unclog it since someone stole our plunger. All I was offered was latex food gloves to clean with :c
-Had multiple customers tell me to kill myself on multiple different occasions

I have more stories but those are the bigger ones.

TLDR; never again

There was an indian guy who was unhappy with his food and demanded that I the manager give him multiple free meals because he was displeased. He also said I was highly unprofessional because I was sitting down and eating in the common area and threatened to report my behavior to corporate. I figured it was worth yessing him to death and agreed to all his demands the next time he orders, not only that he was fucking hard to understand.

Well I wasn't the manager and I was just sitting there having my lunch, but I was the only white male there and I was dressed in business casual so he just assumed I was in charge.

Hell I didn't even work at the place.
