I've considered moving to warmer climates off and on, but stories like these remind me of why I'm staying in the frozen north.Almost contemplated driving my boyfriend to the ER today. I heard him yelping like I'd never heard him before. Go to investigate, and decipher from his expletives and pain that something bit him him when he put his shoes on. I gingerly flip it over and out falls a 2 inch bark centipede. I step on the mf to kill it (took awhile for it to actually die, thing's resilient). I was worried if he'd have an allergic reaction but it seems to just be like a very bad wasp sting.
I've gotten bit by ants, 'squitos and gnats and stuff. But I've somehow never been stung by a bee or wasp or whatnot in my life. I feel bad that I can't relate to how much pain he's in, but also glad I can't? It's also funny. We have a pet centipede (different species), and when we told our friends about the incident today they were like "how did it get out?!" Thankfully it wasn't our 8 inch long red headed centipede. That would have been at least 10x worse.
Scorpions are a thing in the summer here. I've squished a couple small ones so far. But this makes me want to checks my shoes twice whenever I put them on now.
I may be wrong about this one, but could he suffer from an overgrowth of malassezia? Rubbing in coconut oil will make it worse, since it feeds off of the fatty acids. Heavy moisturisers will make it worse too, since it makes a barrier and therefore a nice humid environment for the fungus to thrive in.I am a little bummed though, he had a horrific case of cradle cap, and he's balding in the back/on the sides from his rubbing his big coconut all over the mattress, etc. He'd worked himself a natural Mr. T mohawk, it was adorable. Unfortunately, as I worked in coconut oil and gently removed the cradle cap with a comb, his hair was coming off with the scales. Now he has a reverse Friar Tuck thing going on, it's like he's got a hair yarmulke and worse still, a tiny tail of hair at the nape. What. The. Fuuuuck.
I got it! Took a bit longer than expected for everything to be finalised, lmao. Maybe the tension headaches will go away now.I may or may not have gotten the big break I've been working for months towards. I'll be notified in a week.

shave the babyDoing a lot better than I was when I posted months ago. I had a baby, he's almost 3 months old now and he's my joy. Makes the fear and self loathing for not being happy about my pregnancy a distant memory, doesn't even seem like I really felt that way, actually, I was just afraid. Little dude is exactly what I needed.

He's still adorable, though.
He's got a doc appointment coming up, I'm going to ask him to take a look. All the scales are gone now, but so is his hair.I may be wrong about this one, but could he suffer from an overgrowth of malassezia? If it's malassezia, apply anti-fungus ointment and use head & shoulders on him.

Babies get scales?his hair was coming off with the scales
Yeah it's like adult dandruff, they get scaley patches on their scalps sometimes. Not all babies but some of them. It sucks.Babies get scales?
Sorry to PL, but if you want your next kid to have smooth skin eat copious amounts of oatmeal and bathe the newborn in oatmealYeah it's like adult dandruff, they get scaley patches on their scalps sometimes. Not all babies but some of them. It sucks.

you're thinking of harlequin babiesOh ok I thought it was some lizard thing
It’s mostly a “country thing” I suppose. At least when I lived in a city I rarely ever worried about venomous bugs. Besides the occasional spider in my garage. Now I live in a town with a lot of fields the creepy crawlers are more common. I can’t take the cold well (aka anything below 50 degrees F), otherwise I have contemplated moving more north as well.I've considered moving to warmer climates off and on, but stories like these remind me of why I'm staying in the frozen north.
Oh. Learned today that an attorney called her. She got a ring he had bought for her. He was setting up the right time to give it to her. Understandably she went from mess to complete emotional breakdown. Being the best listener I can, though I know that barely helps in the short-term. What is this timing? Some days I think the external forces in my life are all the worst parts of a terribly-written Lifetime movie. I'm glad I'm exercising out of habit, because I'd feel like sleeping half the day away given even a nudge.Found out my best friend's boyfriend had an embolism and dropped dead at a pretty early age this weekend.
