How depressing is Chris's future? -

I was just looking at his twitter posts from 23 April 2012:

*I am alone at the moment. My mother is getting a sleep-napia for her snoring at M.J.H.
*It just dawned on me that THIS is what it is like if it WAS just me... It really IS lonely, and it is hell to me.
*I understand financially, I just could not survive alone for long, and my daddy was right on that.
*WOULD it Kill any woman to approach me in public and offer her hand in friendship with a Long and True Relationship with me?!!
*If my mom had not found my dad, and HE was lonely and old too, HE would not have lived TWO WEEKS from that faithful day in Maddy's Pub.
*I certainly would Not last long either. Is my father's missed fate my fate to be?
*I am in a LOT of emotional pain and distress right now.
*My mom is awake now, so I go pick her up. But I realize what I have just Tweeted. I can not afford to be alone in life. :_(

Barb is old and not in good health. It's pretty clear that she doesn't have much time left and Chris honestly has little to no chance of finding a girlfriend. If spending just a few days alone (not sure how long it actually was) depressed him so much, what will he be like when she dies and he's permanently alone? Also consider the fact that he can barely cook, clean or look after himself at all, and wouldn't know how to run a household. He even understands himself that he couldn't survive alone financially. He's putting all his hope for the future into finding a woman who will take care of him financially and emotionally. How fucked is Chris really?

Pretty damn, miserable. The man can't take care of himself and I doubt the red state of Virginia has a social safety net to cover a thirty-one old high functioning autistic man and get him the caretaker he needs.

It makes me feel lucky in a way, I am in a situation similar to Chris where I live with my parents and unemployed for mental health reasons that go beyond autism. However, when my parents die, I know I will have people looking out for me and can teach me to pay bills and friends over the internet an such.

There's more to it than that. There's a verbing in that sentence. His mother is likely getting a sleep study to determine if she has apnea. He doesn't know what apnea is, but she explained she's going to have doctors study her sleep for a "sleep apnea" diagnosis, which would explain her snoring. So, Chris blended all that together in a way he can understand it.

"My mother is getting a sleep-napia to fix her snoring." -- Or, she's going to the doctors to take a special nap so she doesn't snore anymore.

It's quite child-like.

Chris is dependant on barb and nobody else could claim him as their dependant.Once barb dies, Chris will most likely be placed under government care. He'll get the treatment he needs and socialize with people with similar conditions. sadly Chris thinks all other autistics are below him and think he's in a mental institution.

With Barb gone Chris has no way of getting out of the help he needs. He'll go to a group home and learn to accept it. In a accepting environment Chris will be better off.
The worst part is Chris will lose both parents at an "age" people shouldn't. After he gets real help he may also resent them after the death.

Could he even afford to live alone in his house on his ? Hopefully he's got other relatives that will take him in if Barb passes, because he won't be able to get a job and support himself. He'd end up in a group home.

Chris doesn't have to be alone.
All he needs to do is lower his expectations. Get rid of some of his self-imposed restrictions, like demanding his potential sweethearts be financially well off, or not autistic, or attractive,.. or female...
That would really broaden his chances. Just look at some other lolcows who didn't have such high expectations and have managed to get paired up.

My father, and a some of my friends fathers have Sleep Apnia, my worry is, this being the Chandlers, how long do you think Barb had it but just didn't know? Remember in the Bob calls when he would say Chris and Barb would stay up all night, while he slept like a regular person?

Chris's problem is that since it's possible for women to approach men, he expects it to happen without first being the kind of man that women actually approach. In fact, he seems to be putting effort into being the type of man that women outright avoid.

A lot of Chris's stupidity comes from his upbringing and lack of world experience, I've seen Autistic people who were WAY more disabled than him.
