If I want good toast for a sandwich I'll toast it on a frying pan with butter, otherwise toaster oven/toaster for whatever else.

For generic sandwich slice bread, I use the toaster. If the slices come from one of those fancy bakery section sourdough breads and they won't fit in the toaster, I use the broiler in the oven. About 3 minutes per side, on a cookie sheet.

I've always thought this was such an unscientific video. If you wanted to do this properly you'd charge a battery and discharge it to run the toaster. Similar to how a camera charges a capacitor to get such a big flash out of a small battery.

He can probably cruise for multiple hours at 300W+ so he'd only have to charge the battery for a few minutes to output a constant 700W.

Depends on the season. If I've already got a fire going in the wood stove I might just throw a few slices of bread on top. Otherwise toaster. But for a while I didn't have a toaster because I rarely ate toast, and just used the broiler when I did.

And now I want toast.

I don't think running the toaster is the point of the video as much as it is showing how hard an effort 700 watts is, and how difficult it is to sustain.
