I think we're all guilty of taking the piss out of people online at some point. Whether it's trash talking in an online game to being deliberately contrary for the sake of angering someone, it's a common fact of the Internet people enjoy screwing with other people. But while the examples mention are common and tame, there those out there who have taken to higher and even crueler levels. Chris Chan had actual face to face encounters with his tormentors (in a pickle suit no less!) and the more recent example of Boogie2988 being provoked to pulling a gun on someone who showed up at his home uninvited.

Have you ever gone that extra mile to troll someone? Not necessarily meeting your target in person, but taken an extra step in teasing someone for a laugh? If so, please share in this thread.

I don't have a personal story to share other than the time I drove by this guy's house who was selling old CRT TV's on craigslist. I threw a rock at his front door as I dove past,

I very briefly messed around on a fake Match.com account where I pretended to be hardcore into metaphysical stuff. Guys would ask me how I'm doing and I would tell them how I was feeling very in tune with the ambient energy of the universe that day. I think my profile pic was one of the less awful photos of Pixyteri. In the end it was just too much work for the small amount of potential entertainment.

Not sure if this counts, but the reactions I've had from telling people over the years has ranged from gut-busting hilarity to 'what the fuck is wrong with you?' Also, 'on-line' here might be stretching the definition, but whatever.

When I was 11 years old and fresh to high-school, I made a friend who was from a really well to do family, lived on the opposite side of town. His elderly grandmother also lived with him.

One time when over there for dinner, his mother mentioned her father had been a detective at some stage, back in like the 50s. And at one point the grandmother (different house and place) and received threatening phone calls presumably from thugs and criminals relating to a case her husband was working.

What did I do with this information? Over the next 12 months I would call my friend's house, and if his grandmother answered, I would breathe heavily down the phone. Just breathe, no words. I'd occasionally hack and splutter, often for minutes at a time, before eventually hanging up. If my friend or his mother answered, I'd just be myself.

They didn't discover it was me for over a year. Apparently the old woman would have night terrors thinking the criminals had found her number again. She'd scream down the phone 'what do you want!'

Of course when my friend's mother eventually gave me a dressing down for this, I still failed to see the gravity in it. I thought it was funny as fuck.

Back in my teenage years I managed to hack into some annoying kid's account (I somehow managed to get him to give me his password??) and impersonate him by uploading dumb, halfassed, edgy videos of text to speech shit of him cursing people out. People were really mad at him after that and I got off scott-free by blaming it on my nonexistent cousin. Wasn't too far of a ruse but it was stupidly fun.
