It seems to me that they may be the most impacted because the virus occurred during a very important time of their social, educational, and career development. How fucked are they? How will they be able to compete with the generations that come before and after them?

Frankly they are just as fucked being in school as they are being out of it. Kids are resilient; lots of kids miss a year due to illness or injury or truancy, but they eventually turn out okay. It's what the teachers are 'teaching' them that is going to ruin them. Not all teachers, fortunately. But most of them.

I agree, but you don't miss a year of socialization by being sick. This thing has caused children to not really socialize at all and instead get their reality from dumb youtube videos. Socialization is really important because without it you don't know how to act in society. Even a year of missed socialization can have a big impact.

Tbh the whole remote school thing sounded pretty sweet at first. I would've loved it back when I was going to school. You know, I thought the kids would have more time to do school shit and all but holy fuck I did not anticipate how lazy it would make them.

I don't have kids myself but I have younger siblings and it's a fucking disaster. Most of the time they just sleep or go out with friends instead of doing school. Sometimes they don't even have the decency to just fire up their class on the computer in the background. They just straight up ignore everything school-related. They were not that fucked up before the pandemic, they actually did pretty good and had satisfying marks. The problem is there is no one there to control them since the classes happen when everyone is out working and it's always been hard to force a kid to study or do homework anyway. And they just refuse help too.

I've heard so many stories from my co-workers and friends about their children just not caring. My office buddy's son didn't pass because he didn't appear in a single fucking class and didn't take any test (he was like 14, I think). My friend's 16yo brother failed most of his tests because he didn't even bother to cheat, dude just opened the tests and sat there playing on his console or sth. Fuckers won't even ask their classmates to copy homework because they don't give a shit. Most parents now have access to online gradebook and know what their kid's situation looks like in real-time and they are still having trouble forcing them to do anything. I should also mention that I know a few of these kids and they were pretty normal before covid. I also know a few adult people (mostly secondary school seniors and uni students) who are acting like this, so it's not just kids.

I guess it's because this shit doesn't feel as serious. When you fucked up in school you had to physically talk to the teachers and beg them to let you retake some tests and if you were lucky you didn't get shat on too much for being a retard. Just being physically in school made it feel like something important. We all hated it but still. Now there is no real threat since everything is just an image on the screen and we sit in the safety of our own house. Bruh, I can just turn off the screen and none of that shit exists.

I know education is not everything but oh boy I'm sure they're going places with that kind of attitude and determination.

Kiddo went to school to try a few classes because she misses social contact. She quit after the first day because she said it was insanely depressing to be in a place where you can look but have no real contact with anyone. She refused to go back.

The young kids though are who I feel are the most fucked. We should have agreed at the start of this that since kids are not at risk of coof, we will make sacrifices for them. Not fat boomers. So let them live as normal a life as possible. Older kids, everyone else, too bad. Maybe some more fatties croak cause of it but that's alright. But I worry for what impact this will have on their development. I think they may turn out even more autistic than before.
