i also actually buy a lot music legitimitely via CD. i've got a completely custom sound system in my car and CD's have by far the best quality so i have a decent hardcopy collection too

oh and last time i made a thread like this, for some reason someone accused me of renaming my movies folder, so here is proof i didn't

I don't need to download anything illegally. My grandfather's on the board at the Library of Congress and he automatically receives a copy of every new film, album, and book as soon as it's finished and he gives it to me.

I have much fewer songs than you but I think there are a lot that are in FLAC or other very high-quality formats. I mostly listen to industrial and rap but like a bunch of stray shit that is catchy.

Almost all of my music is bought legally. I support my artists, particularly because I like a lot of small time rappers.

is this an appropriate time to use the 'powerlevel' rating?

Digital is gross, VINYL ONLY!

i 'd love to just listen to flac files but so many media devices won't play them which makes it pretty annoying
I use Google Music as my primary storage. They let you upload songs without proof of ownership which is great for importing existing libraries. They also have tools for organizing, labeling, and giving album art to music. Google streams to a bunch of devices and I'm pretty sure it will adjust the codec based on what the device is capable of playing.

most of the music i listen to while im at my pc is really obscure early 90's hardcore techno and hardstyle

yeah you've got a decent amount there

when i tell people that i have literally years worth of playback they dont believe me until i show them
It would be bigger, but I went back and deleted some stuff I wasn't into at all, like entire discographies of Bjork, Sigur Ros, et cetera.

I DJ about once a month at house parties. I have unlimited internet so I tend to just rip stuff off YouTube as needed. I tend to only keep the obscure stuff that might be gone next time I want to find it. I don't see any point in locally storing the mainstream stuff.
