How to avoid being cancelled - In case some nutter gets on your case

As a business owner, I've been thinking about different ways people will try to cancel me and try to force an apology or something. I'm wondering about what ways I can avoid getting on the radar of insane nutters.

One thing I thought of is avoiding extremely volatile groups/subjects such as not appealing directly to the LGBT community, let alone the Q+ section because they as loyal as rabid dogs and will watch you like a hawk that's ready to strike at the slightest microaggression. In the same vein, don't appeal to those calling for diversity is a good start too, they have the same explosive reactions to the slightest slight.

Has anyone else got some good advice on how to avoid being cancelled? Especially if people are in the process of trying to cancel. I've heard the advice "Don't ever apologise" though I would like to know how to get around not apologising for whatever and stick by my guns.
I've witnessed several cancelling attempts. Some successful, some aren't and I would like to see other people's feedback who may have witnessed a cancelling I haven't.

I don't want to lose my years worth of build-up and independent income because some hate-filled wacko online was bored.

I feel like cancelling is like cyber bullying, if they start coming after you, just don't respond. Twitter(if your business is even remotely that large) will get mad for a day or two then they'll just get bored and move on to the next outrage.
yup, whatever you do, don't talk to press. they will miscontrue your side of the story if you talk to them. if you don't talk, they can't do much without committing libel. exxon mobile's PR didn't get people to stop carrying about their oil spills, people just moved on to the next outrage.

As a grill owner, I've been thinking about different ways people will try to cancel my BBQs and try to force a pool party or something. I'm wondering about what ways I can avoid getting on the radar of insane millennials.

One thing I thought of is avoiding extremely volatile foods/side dishes such as not appealing directly to the vegetarian community, let alone the vegan section because they as loyal as rabid hot dogs and will watch you like a chicken that's ready to strike at the slightest meatcroaggression. In the same vein, don't appeal to those calling for meat alternatives is a good start too, they have the same explosive reactions to the slightest steak.

Has anyone else got some good advice on how to keep grilling? Especially if people are in the process of trying to not grill. I've heard the advice "Don't ever use propane" though I would like to know how to get around not using propane for whatever and stick by my charcoal.
I've witnessed several grilling attempts. Some successful, some aren't and I would like to see other people's feedback who may have witnessed a cookout I haven't.

I don't want to lose my years worth of recipes and Weber grills because some hate-filled wacko online was hungry.

Use lots of processed sauces and meats and act like Guy Fieri. Hope to fuck they don't start using your services ironically.

Have ZERO social media presence, personal or business. Just don't touch that shit, it's not worth the sheer volatility and potentially showing up on an insane person's radar. Interactions with customers should be handled via more personal means.

Keep a minimal social media presence, post as infrequently as you reasonably can without it affecting your business. This reduces opportunities for you to do something problematic and it gives you plausible deniability because if something does come up, you'll want to go quiet for a while.

If there is an attempt to cancel you, you want to contain the info as much as possible. Do not let anyone find out about it from you, that obviously means no apologising, and restricting or pre-filtering comments so no casual customers who happen to be looking at your page see what's going on. The crucial part of not apologising is riding out the news cycle and letting it run out of steam. People on the internet have short memories so two weeks or so should usually be ample time for most people trying to cancel you to lose interest and move on to something else, so if you only post every two weeks or so anyway it won't look unusual to the rest of your followers. Use your own judgement, some circles move on more quickly than others. When the heat seems to have died down, continue as if nothing happened but continue to filter comments for some time. Do not address it, do not allude to it, do not respond to questions about it. Let it die and act like it never happened.

Look at almost any thread here and you'll find someone who just can't shut up long enough for the internet mob to lose interest. Cancelling works the same way.

You cannot avoid the initial cancellation attempt, because its arbitrary. People get cancelled for not saying something (like maybe saying "women" instead of "womxn"), and the next week they get cancelled for saying the thing instead of not saying it (twitter troons now claim "womxn" is only said by terfs). It mirrors what happens in communist countries, no one who accuses others cares if they're really guilty or not. It is a waste of time to fret about that part.

Your response is all you can really control. It would be a good idea to do maintenance on your personal relationships, it is hard to tell who is going to stick by you through a cancellation, and you will likely need people. Human beings are social creatures, it is always hard to have a large group of people saying negative things about you. Hobbies and good friends are needed. It is also hard to shut the fuck up and not argue with the lunatics or issue statements, but refrain from doing so for at least a week. The way trader joe's handled their attempted cancellation is a wonderful template to follow. Internet people got mad that they had names like trader jose on mexican food or trader ming on egg rolls etc. TJ's waited for the angriest people to move on to another target, and issued a statement that didn't apologize for anything that happened. They changed nothing about their product line and no one gave a shit.
