Let's remember that there's already a thread for shitposting about what we'd like to see happen to Yaniv. This thread is all aboot ethics in pedo journalism so let's not get off topic.

In this age there's a mushy line between "real" journalists with credentials and citizen "journalists". The internet gives anyone a voice who wants one. This is a good thing since a lot of mainstream "real" journalistic media doesn't touch shit like this or has a particular agenda aligned with the views of whoever pays the bills, be that advertisers or the actual rich dude that bought the publication. A lot of the best info comes from people who do not have "credentials". This means that you will inevitably get some wierdos like Donald Whatshisface but you also get good stuff too.

I fall into the camp though that thinks shining a light on this kind of thing is the only way to go. I'm sure he does get off on it but if it keeps people away from him, that's really what matters. I don't believe that he would never offend. I don't even necessarily believe he hasn't already. When there's this much smoke, you know?

There were quite a few comments on The Rebel's newest videos (which have magically disappeared now so I can't s/s), questioning what The Rebel are actually doing.

I mean, the newest video about the fries, where she says that a "friend" didn't get served for being trans, is pushing a rumor which is just... fucking stupid. It puts it out there. It's fake news. She didn't even NEED to say that.

This kinda bait journalism is exactly what will allow tards like Jon a foothold. It legit doesn't help anyone's cause but loons like Jon. It doesn't protect actual transgender people, it just gives the loons ammo.

I agree he needs the light shined on him, it's just people like Donald and the Rebel and those morons who screech hyperbole, when he hasn't even been convicted for anything yet, aren't helping.

I can't say I don't agree about that newest Rebel video. It was fucking cringy for a few reasons. It's too bad that a lot of these outlets like Rebel can't seem to stop acting like rētards long enough to let people take the actual news seriously. Yaniv really is a monster that highlights the serious danger with self-id laws and no mainstream media will touch it. I guess about Rebel specifically, I feel like good on them for being tough enough to take this story on but damn, guys please stop being such autists about it.

There are other good independent media outlets too though. In Canada on the left side of the spectrum we've got Canadaland, which can be their own brand of leftist autism on one hand but also did the best in-depth coverage anywhere of the Gian Ghomeshi thing.

Giving anyone a voice like the internet does is a double edged sword. On one side, you give anyone a voice and you can find some real gems but on the other you give anyone a voice and you might also find Donald Smith.

I’ll admit I’m disappointed in this thread. What I thought was that I’d be reading a helpful guide for the JY victims to reference.

Yaniv keeps doing the same stuff to new people. What would be helpful is a pinned thread so his next victim, because there will be a next victim, can be pointed to a thread with a guide on how to remain safe. Because whether you’re a band, a group of teens, a pageant contestant, or a [fill in the blank], Yaniv knows that carrying messages of body positivity, the LGBTQ2 voice, and loving inclusion is going to keep reaching new audiences. We can’t believe someone is gullible and has never heard of him, but Yaniv is only known to us because at some point he fell on our radar and we did some research. His victims don’t have the luxury of time and research. They’re busy befriending someone who is a pro at stalking.

We should write something to let them know the stages of Yaniv’s obsession, how at risk they are, and how to protect themselves.

Think of the pageant girl who played nice because she was terrified he’d roll in with a taser. If she could have shown up at the rcmp headquarters with more than, “Help. Maybe this is just me, but I think the documentation that's been done on this guy by so many hard-working individuals should be a "guide" on its own. We're not some sort of organization that's getting together to make pamphlets so we can save the children. There's a lot of information in the FAQ and on the website Null set up to talk about Yaniv. Why not just point people to one of those resources? Do you really think a pinned thread with some sort of Dos and Don'ts list would be that much more reachable than what's already here?

Let's face it, a lot of the young ladies who have dealt with Yaniv probably never would have come here before. A lot of young girls who are getting chatted up by creeps online right now probably won't come here now. I think we should try to be a little realistic about who and what we are here. Your heart's in the right place. I just don't know if having a bunch of autists who laugh at other autists try to pen a children's guide to evading the WaxMyBalls idiot is the right approach.

Her videos are not very popular and she's been called out for her cringy clickbait style of "Reporting" and outright bullshit claims.... ie saying Democrat Andrew Yang refuses to condemn Antifa (He's the only Democrat who has repeatedly done so) and claiming the Philippines foreign minister invited her to dinner for her lame reporting on the garbage containers. He didn't.

She can barely get anyone to speak to her on the street., so few that she has to show all the rejections to fill a 2 minute video.

She'll probably be let go once Ezra figures out she isn't cut out for it.

And if you were to type "Jessica Yaniv", that link would be in 4th position instead, with JY's pronouns changed to female ones. Even if you were tech illiterate you literally couldn't miss the big link that says "THIS GUY IS A PREDATOR", and if you do you honestly were too stupid to live, sorry to say.

Even then, we are not a PSA website, a website to list all dangerous criminals and creeps with big warning signs on all of their heads, or a vigilante site trying to hand out the law to people, and play justice heroes with people around the internet.
