We all know that if you can draw at least like an elementary school kid and do not afraid of weird stuff, you can make a decent living off it.
Here i encourage you to share tips and advices on how to do it better.
I'll start by talking a bit about sites you can check and some things i know about it:

Deviantart - is dead, but still full of weird guys. Best and quickest way to promote yourself is submitting your art to hundreds of groups. It can not be automised, at least all artist i know do it manually. Ponies, anime, cartoons, everyone are welcomed here.

Furaffinity - a widely known goldmine for last 5-4 years. There are a lot of new artists who wants to bite this pie, and they are ready for everything. Furries usually pay good, do not complain much and will love you and give you more money if you make good fap material for a fair price.

Patreon - for people with a good following.

YCH.Commishes - site for YCH auctions. Best way to promote your YCH is to be in a group of artists who like each other auctions to make them appear on top. Most popular for MLPfags.

Twitter - there are a lot of furries. But twitter is cancer, iremember, kids. Tho, if you are good pixel artist, you can find a well paid full-time job there, a lot of indies head-hunt artists on twitter.

HentaiFoundary - good place to get an audience for patreon.

Tumblr - full of poor tumblrinas who commission each other. Do not worth it.

Etsy is one if you're making art thats hand crafted, or if you doing something like painting miniatures. Just be nice, ship promptly and make sure you're offering something people will want.

pretty funny, but i discovered a goldmine of fat-fetishists and feeders on FA.

Here's some tips I can tell right now as a person who has gotten commissions in the past from artists.

• I wont write any specifics since there's tons, but Discord servers are great for getting your foot into more online stuff. Most places require you to be 18 to join, but I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem.
• Original Characters are big now, especially self inserts. Find people and servers that are asking for commissions.
• Find a niche, or something that you could capitalize off of.
• Unironically, make your own mascot/character. Doesn't have to be a furry. Doesn't have to be a girl with big tits. Do something unique or interesting, something appealing, something eye catching.
• Start off slow with prices. I'd say that a headshot/chest/collar up shot would be about 15 dollars with full colors and shading. I don't think the "time to money" scale has ever been good, especially if it's a variable depending on how comfortable you are with drawing.
• If you have slots for commissions, limit yourself. Know when to pace. Know HOW to pace. Don't open 20 slots and try and get 4 done a day.
• Know your limits as well. Don't wanna draw hyper futanari kemonomimi? Don't know what that is? Tell your client if that's what it is, that you'll decline. Is it a simple waist up pose? Sounds good. But know when to ease yourself into experimental and dynamic stuff.

And a bit about timing.
Last 1-2 weeks of december and first half of january are dead seasons, there are no chance for you to get som muns. All customers already bought art gifts, and spent money on christmas. Try to get as much as possible money before christmas.
Try to capitalise on holidays - Halloween, Christmas and St.Valentines day are the biggest, at least on FA. Start to offer holiday-themed YCHs and commissions at least a month before holiday.
Big furry conventions in US and Europe usually means that FA artists will have a dead season at least at weekend when convention takes place. At those days try to post offers and reminders when it's an evening in Japan and South Korea.

I'm going to suggest the method PeterDraws used
( Peter Deligdisch is an eccentric person who has made a career out of YouTube art ( Patreon ) )

1: start a YouTube channel centered around art.
2: after a few videos, start a web site to sell your art.
3: after a few months, start a Patreon .
4: once you have some money coming in, change your content to be 90% repetitive art, and 10% good art .

5: obey your YouTube overlords so you get all the ad revenue.

Draw porn. The weirder you're open to drawing, the more customers you're likely to get. Fair warning though; if you go TOO weird you might end up alienating a lot of people or get known for drawing certain fetishes.

Couple other sites:

Ko-fi: A sort of tip jar type function. I've seen some artists run commissions though them (e.g. "3 ko-fis for a waist up sketch"). Each ko-fi is $3 (USD). Art can be posted to your Ko-fi page, but only SFW. Most people I've seen use it in conjunction with twitter.

F-List- Especially ripe picking for furries, but there's just as many non-furries looking for art of their OCs there.

Toyhou.se- Lots of the tumblr/deviantart crowd here, but really good for adoptables. Requires an invite code to join, but they aren't hard to get.

Newgrounds- Really more for established artists, but it's had a brief resurgence after the tumblr porn ban.

Pixiv- Huge Japanese art site, has a subscription function similar to Patreon called Fanbox, though I don't know exactly how it works. Porn has to be censored to comply with Japanese censorship laws or you can get banned.

It's primarily for RP, yeah. If you're into RP yourself, that helps a lot. I have a profile for myself as an artist and a handful of character profiles I've done a good amount of RP on, though not in recent months. It's kind of something where it helps to be part of the community in some form. Chatting in some of the OOC and casual rooms in F-chat while advertising yourself with your chat status is helpful. Last year about 50% of commissions came from F-list, this year about 27% orders were from F-List. Again though, I haven't been nearly as active in the chat rooms there as I was last year. The interface takes some getting used to, but it's fairly straightforward.

Yup. I have a client who's really really into zoophilia and even though I hate that shit I draw it because they're a well paying repeat customer. I just avoid posting it on social media to I don't get a reputation for being a zoo artist.



Discord was mentioned earlier, so I'll elaborate on that some myself here too. I have 5 Artist/Client specific servers that I'm currently in, though the recommendation would all depend on what sort of stuff you draw.
- Commission Central Station (Pretty general commission server)
- /aco/ commission thread (linked with the 4chan board)
- The Waifu Factory (primarily for anime style art)
- Art Commissions (huge server, even have their own website)
- Veronica's Lewd Library (for hentai and fetishes mostly. lots of futa from what I can see)

A lot of artists have their own discord servers where they allow advertisement and community discussions which can help a lot with finding new clients or just getting more eyes on your work.



Artists and Clients is another website for posting commissions, kind of similar to Fiverr but specific to artists. I personally wouldn't recommend it though unless you have no other choice. The website takes a bigger cut from profits than PayPal does (I think around 15-20%) and the process of setting up orders and communicating with clients is tedious. The only positive is the review system.

Nah, it really depends. Having no respect is better then having no food.
McD in my area pays less then $2/hour, by drawing furries i can at least make US minimum wage.

Also I would recommend d&d groups, they pay well for you to draw their party characters.

I often see ads from dnd groups on DA forums. Tho DA forums are great place to find a nice side job.
