How to tell if a lolcow is legit or troll? -

If they're a try hard or not

But yeah to be serious Poe's law states that it's very difficult to determine if someone's trolling or just an extremist. You have to use your common sense and be skeptical, but you'll probably never know for sure.

It's also some people aren't necessarily trolls or legit, but something in the middle. A good example is Ghost from True Capitalist Radio. Who later stated that he feigned anger for his broadcasts just to make it entertaining, and not because he was a troll. And that he did have srs moments for the first half of his show and devoted the second half to being angry at callers.

Its not as easy as it should be sadly, when details about Chris first started leaking out lots of people thought it was too outlandish to be true and look how that turned out.
That line of thought was mostly done away with once his nudes came out. After the  video and JULAY it was pretty much too unlikely for Chris to be a troll

Yeah, its hard, especially without knowing them in real life. An idiot manchild who has public outbursts is probably an actual lolcow, not a troll, but someone who created a FB account yesterday and starts posting stupid/funny shit could just as easily be either. I do tend to believe that someone is legit the longer they've been online, if only because only the most dedicated - or psychotic - trolls would put that much effort into something stupid. Of course, by that point they may as well be an actual lolcow. Output is another good indicator. Someone who has been drawing the same fetish crap on DeviantArt (or writing bad fan fiction, etc) every week for years on end is probably a lolcow.

a troll's actions will always benefit them. their actions are to invoke reaction.

lolcows will always have times where they are just boring. they have patterns, but they do not follow any agenda. they are sick (mentally ill) individuals most of the time, who just happen to also be assholes.

my two cents.

It depends on how much life experiences they talk about, and how much it seems like they're trying too hard to be mocked or not. Sometimes it could be a really covert and efficient troll, but if their behaviors are consistently documented, and they've been going at it for awhile, with intervals of little to no activity here and there, it's safe to assume they're a legit cow.

This video is a few years old now but "Francis" was fake. This was known to be just a character almost right away, and "Francis" would return in other videos.
A legit lolcow will be this crazy for years without admitting, "yeah, it's just a character I play"

Telling the difference between a troll and a lolcow can be difficult since both act in a very similar way. So I'll try to explain it the best I can.

A lolcow is somebody who often does bizarre things such as crappy crossover videos, weird fetish art, unhealthy obsessions, and other childish things. While trolls do some of these things, lolcows are usually very serious about what they do, and their lives are all documented to a degree, whether it be to the point of having a full blown wiki, like CWC and ADF, or just some information like journals, posts, and videos (Pixyteri, WogglebugLover, Sonmaniac, etc.).

The typical traits of a lolcow include, but are not limited to:

- Being a manchild, or having childish tendencies
- Being unemployed and not contributing to society despite having basic abilities
- Has a mental disorder (Autism, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, etc.)
- Has an unhealthy obsession with a person or object
- Lacks a conversational filter ("I'm a virgin with rage", DIRTY CRAPPED BRIEFS, etc.)
- Lacks social skills or is socially awkward among other people
- Creates bizarre and/or lackluster content
- Overreacts to trivial matters, such as criticism or opposing viewpoints.
- Has very odd viewpoints, and is usually out of touch with reality to an extent.

A troll is usually an anonymous user who just stirs things up for the sake of invoking a reaction. Sometimes it's easy to tell if they're trolling or not. There are times also when they can be serious though. Trolls also only seem to appear when a lolcow is starting to gain the Internet's attention; Did anybody hear about Clyde Cash before CWC became the lolcow we all know and love? Probably not.

In a nutshell:

If somebody says and does bizarre/disturbing/stupid things, is generally serious about it, and/or has been documented for this behavior and their family life, odds are they are a lolcow.

If somebody says bizarre/disturbing/stupid things, and have an anonymous profile, odds are they are just trolling.

A True and Honest lolcow always has nudes. It's part of their modus operandi. A troll would not have such commitment.

So... what about all the kid lolcows out there like SammyClassicSonicFan or DoubleSwee? How do we know if they are legit if they can`t post any nudes without anyone viewing them getting a visit from the FBI?

I would say "But we always still have their behavior." But then again, they're kids, they'll grow out of it (unless they don't, but that's another story).

But in all honesty, it can get pretty hard to tell sometimes. But I think we can all come to the agreement that the shit some people (like A-Log, Jayce, Moleman, and Chris) do aren't what you call trolling.
