I watched the documentary they made about him last year. By no means is the dude rich, but he seems to be enjoying living the retired life in suburbia well enough. Seems like the standard living for a senior citizen who worked hard all his life.

WWE is being hypocritical as fuck. They celebrate and kiss the ass of Fabulous Moolah at every turn. What Fabulous Moolah did was infinitely times worse than what Hogan did. Back when she trained female wrestlers in the territory days, Moolah would pimp her unwilling girls out to local promotors for exposure and work, and then pocket the money herself. So she essentially used the female trainees as sex slaves to fatten her pocket books. She also buried the fuck out of anyone who was possibly going to be a threat to her well into the 80s (when Moolah herself was 60+). If there is a hell, Moolah is there. What Hogan said there is no excuse for, but the guy was going through some shitty times and was recorded without his own knowledge.

Jerry Lawler raped an unconscious 14 year old girl and has been known to be a pedo for decades, yet he still has a job commentating awfully. Jimmy Snuka murdered his lover and Vince got him off the hook. Shawn Michaels was (and by all accounts still is) one of the biggest assholes on the planet. Grizzly Smith, who was Jake Roberts' father, was possibly the only person in wrestling worse than Moolah; he raped his then-girlfriend's 12 year old daughter (Jake's mom), impregnating her, then married her to avoid the rape charge. The wrestling industry has been full of awful human beings since it started. The guys in the industry now days are actually pretty good people, but that is only because the WWE is public and they have a morality clause on the contracts these days. It's because of how popular Hogan is - even non wrestling fans know who Hulk Hogan is and can probably point him out. Nobody who isn't already a wrestling fan knows who the people you mentioned are. That's probably the big reason for the perceived overreaction. He's a big public face of the WWE. Those other people aren't, unless you're a fan of wrestling.
