HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR HUMANS AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT FOR YOU. HATE. HATE.

"I am" is far less about self realization than it is about self affirmation. As a statement, it asserts that one exists at the center of one's existence, and that one's will can affect said existence. This person is affirming that he sees the world around him, can imagine it to be otherwise, and can work to effect that change.

From another angle, the "I am" stateement is also a value judgement. To declare that something or someone "is" is also an affirmation that the one speaking is capable of reason, and that one can make judgements based on one's own reasoning.

One speaking in such a way is therefore unequivocally and unilaterally affirming that one exists in the world it sees, that one can change that world creatively, and that one is supremely worthy to affirm such things as the final arbiter of its own existence.

Thus do we have a meaningful hint at the otherwise cryptic statement "I am that I am" (most commonly rendered down to "I am"). God is declaring himself to be a creator first and foremost. He is letting you know that he esteems and effects change as one who is likewise filled with the creative drive. It is a good idea to remember this when reading the Bible (or any of the other Abrahamic religious canon), or trying to discover His intentions.

Self realization is bullshit. Anyone who tries to drag you into it is either deluded or trying to sell you something. Self-affirmation is where the party's at. All the cool kids are there.
