Yes intake is usally done by social workers and you may be seeing a therapists for months before a psychiatrist can do a real evaluation. After that your psychiatrist is for medication management and state required re-evaluations. They dont have the time to hear your issues the therapist takes notes and they if your lucky read them over before your appointment.Correct me if I'm wrong, but a psychiatrist should come after a psychologist has filtered those who need further help from those who aren't ready/wouldn't benefit from it/do not apply, right? So as a psychiatrist you don't spend that much time with the patient because it'd be safe to assume the therapist is already doing that. Is that how it should work in theory or am I pulling stuff out of my ass here?
