I have a dream....to be a chef - Need info!

Basically I always wanted to be a chef at some good restaurant (not at Texas Roadhouse or some crap) that involves meats, I want to focus on mostly steaks, ribs, anything that is mouth watering.

Where would you send me to start? To have that as job as it is my passion!

If you have no experience, just start applying. You may have to work at a chain restaurant at first but the turnover in the restaurant industry is so high that you don't have to feel obligated to stay there forever.

Never thought of that, thanks! I do know one really good butcher shop at where I live and it usually gets 4-5 stars on google or some shit like that

Even if you don't get a job there, spending time talking to the butcher and asking questions can increase your knowledge. Just keep building on what you know!

I learned a lot about different cuts of beef when I helped take my in laws steer to slaughter. The guys there told us all about different cuts and best ways to use them. Very nice guys.

If you are serious about being a cook better start smoking or drugging yourself, because u are going to deal with the type of idiots that think the tomatoe soup has too mutch tomatoe
Also a lot of people that cant even cook a sandwitch will nit pick every little detail because they are clearly in the right, and 8/10 times will try to get a free meal from you by bitching about your ability to cook

I'd recommend applying to concession stands and food trucks to build your resume, since they serve much fresher foods than your typical Mcdonald's. It's great experience too.

Smaller, personally owned restaurants are a great place to learn this. Their cooks are usually down to earth and knowledgeable and there's often more down time at a family shop.

You could start off small in a kitchen restaurant as some had suggested, and work your way up. Learn tips, tricks of the trade, etc.

Learning is the most important part imo. From there you can get a job in a restaurant and move up quicker because you'll have the knowledge already.
