You know, I wonder what he watches on Netflix, TV Shows or anything that most people his age are interested in? Some of his video game interests seem to just touch on some of the more mature themes, but he never plays those ones. I wonder if he just buys them to brag or have something to talk about if someone would ever be friends with him.

What interests me more than the maturity of his interests, is the relative breadth of his interests. Like, he really has none compared to any normal person.

My biggest passions are fancy microbrew and liquor, and also video games and movies, but I have a significant interest in so many other things I can talk about: religion, philosophy, football, sociology, history, and so forth. And what's more, if there's something I don't really actively care about but you do, you can bring it up and I'll try to learn about it and add to it. Chris doesn't have any kind of breadth for casual interests - he is 100% devoted when it comes to the PSN and some cartoons, and he hates gays and a lot of other minorities, but outside of that he basically has no opinion on anything. You can't ever ask him "hey, what do you think of X?" and hope to kindle a conversation, because he'll just have nothing to contribute to it.

Chris is many silly things, but one thing he is that doesn't get much attention - because it's inherently a silent trait - is that he's boring. He's a very boring person. And he doesn't get that relationships with people are primarily based on one thing: mutual interest.

Eh, Chris occasionally has more mature interests. Really, I would say his interests are mostly centered on childish bullshit, but occasionally he hits on more mature bullshit. It's amazing to me that this isn't A-Logging since to me the worst thing possible is to be a grown man who lives with his mother and watches cartoons all day while he does nothing. Even Hitler left the fucking house now and then.

That is a good point. Judging by his talk with Kacey, he doesn't seem interested in politics, news or any world events. We know he doesn't read, and so far his only comment on booze is it goes down salty. Most "mature" pursuits seem to elude him.

I don't think a can of crappy beer or two once every few months qualifies one as an "avid" drinker, but when he does go to a bar he likes to hang out with his friends. Sonic tops his list of drinking buddies, of course, but when he wants to really party out there are a whole lot of characters in various DS3 games that are happy to socialize with him.

And that is also why he was a "virgin with rage" for so long. He saw sex as the magical right of passage into adulthood. Kinda like in the movie "Cabin Boy" where he is a naive infintile virgin, but then he has sex and is immediately mature.

But Alec is right, it's possibly the range and focus of his interests that make him immature.

If you want to have a stimulating and intellectual conversation, you don't go to someone who only has sole interests. Said person has to have read more and gained more knowledge than what is offered in vidya, cartoons, and Goosebumps books.

Ironically, two of Chris's favorite shows (South Park & Family Guy) could open him up to topical conversations or political debates. However, such plots go right over his head because he is just watching the shows for a couple chuckles and bright colors flashing on the tv.

Personally i think he will never really get any further bredth or depth to his interests simply because he still clings to the absurd "brand loyalty" thing which dictates he will be betraying his current interests if he ever gets into anything else. As far as he is concerned he is already interested in mature things simply because they appeared mature to him back when he was a little tardlet
