Chris's dad identifies himself as a Republican. Imagine if he was alive and heard about this? Yes I posted in the Chris forum but I'm sure his dad drilled into his mind that the Republicans are moral models even though Chris has no idea how political parties work. I don't know if he knows a thing about the Republican party or not but what if he was say at least Republican and heard that there are Republicans who support gay marriage? Oh and note the famous politicians in the link like Laura Bush or Collin Powell supporting gay marriage. Imagine Chris hearing about this. He's going to think that the American politicians are supporting those DANG DIRTY HOMO JERKS to go against him to veer him off the straight path. What do you think? I'll let you be the judge in this!

Chris voted for Obama. I don't think he or Bob would care. If Bob were alive, he would be much more concerned with his son's court cases and Tomgirling. If anything that's what would have given him a heart attack. Plus Chris is at least for lesbian marriage.

I agree with this as far as Chris probably parroting Bob's political views go. When asked about politics, Chris has mentioned multiple times that he thinks Obama's healthcare plan is "premature" without any other arguments to back it up. Bob had an interest in the world and Chris had a steady stream of interaction with him, so I can presume this is where Chris got his "standpoint."

It doesn't seem that Bob was for gay rights so he'd probably be angry about it. After all he called tomgirl Chris a fag and made sure to tell "Matt Nobel" that a couple of gay kids were part of the trolling at the Game Place. Their sexual orientation was irrelevant (particularly since Mimms and Lucas weren't a couple), but he made sure that they were gay kids, not just two regular kids.

I didn't know Bob, obviously, but that's my evidence for Bob disliking gays.

Bob may have personally disliked gays, but it wasn't really part of their party at the time. Eisenhower didn't push moral issues.

Something happened* that turned the Republican party from Conservative Realists to Conservative Lunatics, and it happened long after Bob was grown and set in his ways.

I'd like to think he wouldn't particularly care. He doesn't seem to be the kind of guy who'd really hold a grudge against a person's sexual preferences. Maybe he wouldn't support it or condone it, but I don't think he'd go out of his way to let everyone know he was displeased about it.

edit: I'd like to add too that it's probably something he'd talk or debate about in more intimate circles, like friends or family. (I know he got to talking a lot that one call with the trolls and got personal at points, but I guess that's a different situation entirely.) But let's face it, pretty much any private opinion is going to be anything but by the time it gets around to Chris.

The sad thing is that the Republicans actually started out as a party of the people. Their very name is testament: REPUBLICan.

That the party of Lincoln has fallen so foul is a serious issue all Americans must immediately address. Let's start by the smart pubbies primary'ing the dumb pubbies.

I was just going to say, I don't think Bob was anywhere near as homophobic and racist as people here like to portray him. It seems like there's more and more of a need to excuse Chris' behavior by blaming Borb. While they should be blamed for many things, the majority of Chris' faults are due to Chris just being a fat, stupid, asshole.
