Joseph Stalin was the original Photoshop before Photoshop existed, but what would life be like if he had to use social media to connect to the people of Mother Russia?

Also, what would Vladimir Putin be doing if he wasn’t president but Stalin still was in the current timeline?

He’d use Twitter, but it would be controlled entirely by his government and he’d use it to track people. He’d probably have secret police as well arrest people and to never be seen again. It would pretty much be like what Russia was under him, but he’d now have the advantage of tracking people more easily.

It would work, it would just punish all dissent and many things would be censored. If anything, I could see Stalin creating only state approved social media with very strict TOS and a ban on all VPNs. I could see him allowing social media for the advantage of tracking people and knowing their thoughts more, so that way they could be punished.

No, my namesake died a couple of years before I was born. But my namesake probably wouldn't use any social media. A big part of his style was staying at a distance from the people. This allowed him some measure of denying excesses in certain of his initiatives, such as collectivization and the Purges.

I hate twitter but man I would love to see WWII internet slap-fights on twitter between Stalin - Hilter - Mussolini - etc. That would be quality entertainment as well as horrible as Germany live tweets their invasions.
