...As has been mentioned before, Chris has at some point requested that someone kill Mimms' girlfriend, so that he can feel the same pain 'he caused [him]', or something. Now, while it's probably not news that Chris is no stranger to wishing ill will towards others, between 'doxing' Megan and wishing death on Mike Snyder, it seems fair to ask, what is the legal status of what he's saying? Seriously, doesn't this go against his probation, or something? Does anyone know anything about how this all may be (or has been) seen by a police officer, probation offices, or psychologist?

Eh, Chris' primary offense was failure to stop after an accident. It wasn't something violent. Really, I don't think they'd care.

Since he's not directly making the threat or participating in active planning of their demise, I don't believe any laws have been violated. It's kind of like saying "I wish that George Lucas would have a heart attack and die because of what he did to Star Wars," except with a relatively unknown citizen instead of a celebrity director.

*Note. I don't want George Lucas to die. I don't want him to have a heart attack. This was just an example.

You assume that his probation officer, if he even has one, gives enough of a shit about a mentally handicapped man, who for the most part is harmless, to put aside work with real criminals to follow up on said window licker.

What I mean is, what if someone decided to pursue him for harassment? Could it be done, or is this just in the legal grey area of 'shitty things to wish'?

Yeah, it's not going to happen. The people he is threatening probably are unaware of it, and even if they were they would probably shake their heads and say "that's Chris". They know he's no real threat.

I don't think he harassed anyone.

If Snyder wanted to sue Chris in civil court, he might have a case. But it's been pointed out before that Chris continually adds "weasel words" to his threats. "By my autism, the Game Place will go down by somebody else's bombs-on-a-stick!" or "I wish someone would gunshot murder Michael Snyder!"

Snyder could argue defamation of character because Chris did say that he molests his daughter, as well as the time he printed out anti-Game Place coupons. The burden of proof would fall on Snyder, however, and he'd have to convince the judge that he's suffered enough loss of business or suffered enough psychologically to deserve compensation. Taken with the fact that Chris already has a restraining order against Michael and that he's already paying medical bills connected to the October 28th incident, it'd be a tough call for a judge.

Mimm's girlfriend might be able ton convince a judge that a restraining order is necessary against Chris, but it'd be a tough sell. Same with Megan. The likelihood of Chris getting into real legal trouble for his comments, as deranged as they may be, are slim to none.

I think Snyder could use it to press charges, but I doubt he'd be motivated to do so. I think most officials would dismiss it, since it's not a specific targeted threat.

Where it could present problems, is if Chis were facing new charges, such statements could be used to cast him in a negative light should his character come into question. Still a bit of a long shot, since any crime he commits (most likely trespassing or moving violation, but stuff like fleeing or "assault" aren't beyond him if he panics) would probably be pretty blatant and charges would stand on their merits. As well, Snyder could use it to build a civil case against Chris, but that's also a stretch... I'm sure Michael has better things to do, and has an idea there's almost nothing to gain (assuming Chris obeys his restraining order).

Huh. So nothing at all? Granted, he is pretty ineffectual, but that a counselor wouldn't look at it isn't strange? Then again, maybe the best anyone can do is avoid him, hence the whole church fiasco

He's not harassing anyone. The Megan info he had and dumped was shit you could get out of the phone book. And he's got 13 friends on his facebook now, tops. Megan doesn't have a court order or anything against him.

I think you're really overestimating the significance of this stuff. It's amazing to us and shows how nuts Chris is, but in a legal and overall, public, context, it doesn't mean much.

Well, there was Megan and the Wallflower.
I don't think so. It might've taken a bit for him to give up on Megan, but I don't think it was that long. And he gave up on the Wallflower in a reasonable amount of time.

Really, unless he makes specific threats against anyone, like Marvin has been saying, no one cares. Everyone just sees him as an angry young man (um, adult autistic child) taking his frustrations out in an inappropriate way and possibly scaring some people.

If he was dumb enough to say he was going to take a gun and shoot Snyder at closing time tomorrow, then they could do something about it.

As far as Megan, the Wallflower or Snyder wanting to press the issue, I'm sure they've had enough of the autistic wonder to last a lifetime and as long as he doesn't give them a hard time, they don't give him a hard time.

Fair enough. Though it seemed like it would be something big given his track record, all it really turned out to be was fodder for the 'Chris and his Ego' page. It's a shitty thing to wish on someone innocent, sure, but not too significant if nothing is done afterwards

As much as I would love for OPL to become Bubba's bitch, I doubt blowing steam like that over the net would be enough to get him a trip to the pen', especially considering he wouldn't go out of his way to do any harm to Lucas or his friends, nor do the people who follow Chris's exploits have any desire to see harm come to them (at least I hope).

Indeed. If something did happen, though (God forbid), that'd be pretty suspicious

I kinda raised this question earlier this week in the thread regarding Chris and Probation. I don't want him to be sent away, it would be a definite end to our show, but why should he be allowed to make such statements? 3rd graders on facebook can't get away with it, why should he be able to? I think it depends on how bloodthirsty his probation officer is. If he's got a mindset to incarcerate and catch people, perhaps he would seize upon the content. If he's doesn't care, then nothing will happen.

They're private posts. If Chris knew what he was doing, which he doesn't, he should just demand proof that they actually were posted.
