In the event of Mastercard/Patreon unpersoning a celebrity - Would this be possible to brush under the rug?

In my browsing of a certain anti-sjw subreddit, I came across a comment that suggested that the current deplatforming from sites like Patreon, which is apparently due to Mastercard/Paypal having a serious grudge against right wingers, that it's just a "beta test" to higher profile deplatforming later on down the line.

Basically, people who are somebody, not lower tier types like Sargon if that makes any sense, like a politician or celebrity.

The thing is. If they REALLY had the balls to go that far (and they may for all we know), what would realistically happen? Especially if it becomes very rampant and affects a ton of people.

We know the reason Twitter hasn't banned Donald Trump yet, despite how desperately they want to.

Realistically? Not a whole fucking lot anyone can do.

But if it affected someone in a higher position that wouldn't be as easy to brush under the rug. Even if people resort to doomsaying when we all know that doesn't really help win battles.

well if they went through with it they would probably start a timer on the lives of their business, it would also be interesting to see how the public would react seeing how many of them already know about the whole pressure being put on by these payment processors.

i can see this being the opening of pandoras box and people discovering that these entities have been up to far worse shit.

Not much at first, eventually they'd kill them. This isn't the first time in history tyrants have gone too far and it won't be the last.

the people who are big and powerful enough don't really need patreon or paypal so I don't think it would matter

They could but it wouldn't be smart because it's the kind of thing that could trigger government regulation. The last thing any company wants is government regulation so I doubt they would

This. Even if they hit a state politician that could trigger them being locked out of an entire state's market.

lol no real celebrities have a patreon

I can't recall any really. Some have done crowd funding. Like it's not uncommon for a band to crowdfund a record since studio time is expensive. But that's different than Patreon.

Well there is a natural course this will take to its eventual end goal. Right now it's just ending crowdfunding. It will get interesting when it comes to ending your ability to make transactions period. Maybe one day someone like David Duke gets a call from his bank saying that they are having to close out the card functionality on his account due to MasterCard saying they won't process his transactions anymore. Then he is reduced to only using paper checks or cash. Any purchase he made online would have to be through prepaid credit cards perhaps. Then say eventually it comes to a Lindsey Graham type character. His bank tells him the same thing.

Congress will have to pull their heads out their asses and pass a bill before shit gets to this point. With the growing trend of everything moving online, eventually cash and checks will not be a viable form of payment meaning all people that financial transaction companies deem as unworthy to have a credit card will literally be reduced to panhandling on the street or starving.

Maybe it is a beta test, but its not going to continue in just a patreon thing. Eventually it will come to mass lockouts from the credit bureaus and from using credit card functionality in the market.
