I'm the one who pestered Gawker for his Sonichu sprites and now that I have them I want to make a game happen. There's a lot of wasted talent floating around these boards, and it would be great if I could get some of you to come here and waste it with me on this game.
I think it would be fun if we pooled our talents to make a Sonichu game for RPG Maker. I know my way around RPG Maker enough to do it myself but I think it would be quicker and more interesting to try and crowd source the thing, to an extent. It would certainly be more fun to get a bunch of people involved.
I'm not looking for a big commitment (though happy to have one), any scraps of work you want to contribute would be great. I'm already going to use Gawker's awesome sprites, but I'm sure the project would still benefit from someone with some skill at spriting. Anyone else who knows how to use RPG Maker (perhaps someone better at mapping than me) could really help take the pressure off me. Artists could draw faces or enemies, musicians could score original music, writers could help develop the story and write dialogue/in-game pop ups. There's a lot of ways people could add to a project like this.
So at this stage I'm just gauging interest. I'm only really looking to do this if I can get a lot of community involvement. The first thing to decide would be what the basic plot of the game would be. I think collecting the sonichu balls to make some kind of a wish is a very game-able starting point.
To head an inevitable post off at the pass: yes, I'm aware of Maple's work on Adult Chronicles but there are many different interpretations of a Sonichu RPG one could make. Just as there is room for more than one fan comic, I feel there's room for more than one game.
