Someone's asked me to set up a VOIP server. I can probably do that on Orange, the mail server.

Is anyone interested? If so, what service? Keep in mind, I run a TS server for friends and I think there's an arbitrary limit of 32 for free servers (even ones you own), but Teamspeak has also provided the best audio quality in my tests.

I've used Teamspeak a lot for World of Tanks, and it's always worked great. It could be a lot of fun.

I'm intimately familiar with TeamSpeak, and I've used Mumble and Ventrilo on occasion. TeamSpeak of the three I've used is the best in general, because it balances a great, easy-to-understand interface with good quality, depending on how your channel's set up. Mumble's got it beat on quality, but it's really counter-intuitive to use and lacks visual coherence comparatively. As for Vent, it's my least-used so I don't have much of an opinion on it.

tl;dr me like TeamSpeak

I don't know what particular platform to vote for, but I do know i would be interested in any of them. The skype call was fun.

Oh man, this is so weird because I had the same idea.

Mumble is my go-to choice. Marvin and Alec might be willing to show up on Mumble, as they're big into that, and I'm a fan of Mumble myself.

Well, when can we expect one Null?
Orange is a bit under stress right now because I've misconfigured MySQL or something. Katsu is working on that. If he manages to reduce our resources, I'll set it up today.

I don't like Teamspeak because of their shitty policies, but I remember Mumble having poor audio quality, Ventrilo being easily attacked, and I've never even dealt with Raidcall.

Ask Marvin about Mumble, he can probably help you fiddle with it. I know that's why PVCC didn't use Ventrillo, because of easy attacks.

Also fun fact - before we got a dedicated server, we used to just hop on unused European servers. Sometimes a French guy would come on and yell at us and we'd yell back in random French.

I run a very small Teamspeak server for a friend. On the first 24 hours we had it publicly listed because I didn't know wtf I was doing. Some random Germans joined at random, and even after delisting they'd join every day and occupy a random channel. I named one Vaterland and gave it a German famfamfam flag, and now they always use that one. I've never spoken to any of them and I think they've only communicated with us once, asking my friend: "Vaterland ist Deutsch Zimmer ?" :heart-full:

I just would have named it "Anne Frank" or something similar.
You're a better man than I, Null.

Just wondering, are these more stable than Skype calls?

In my experience with Teamspeak, I've not had any issues with it.

Also, their license for what they consider non-profit (us included) allows up to 512+512 (2 servers) users at once. I think that's plenty. If we're able to pack more than 1024 people onto our server, I'm hopefully capitalizing off it enough to afford a true license.

Okay, I'm going to be AWOL for about a day and a half. Everyone send @KatsuKitty vulgar messages telling him to fix Roundcube so the mailserver can support Teamspeak.
