Others are talking about how Sally is their favorite because she reminds them of Mabel.
No, which is why it wasn't my first, it was actually one of my last.
Though I do agree it would be more helpful to the writers if it was more in depth. Right now, I'm hearing only Enter's voice. Nothing Sally says in the game really sounds like it's the character.

I don't get why they made the full character on the right side of the screen move(or, at least change emotions), and just resorted to using the quick sketches John made a while ago. It comes off as more lazy than usual.

as a side note i read through the dialogue in "script.rpy". the whole point of the game is to gain enough trust points to unlock this bit of dialogue

Sorry, but there's no excuse. At this day and age, a young girl with huge sleeved sweaters and brown hair is going to be inevitably compared to Mabel Pines. No escape from the scrutiny, it's just the nature of the public consciousness at the moment.
So why oh lawdy why would you, being a professed fan of Gravity Falls, not avoid heaping that unfortunate scrutiny upon your show by making a slightly more inspired design?
