Interview With A Retard - Going inside the minds of true and honest fans.

I came up with the idea for this thread after speaking to Majinboo5 and seeing his batter housewife responses got me curious.

So I also spoke to poopster, a more recent DSP paypig who is completely oblivious to Phil’s fraudulent activities.

It’s really interesting to see what his legit fans (or deep cover detractors) have to say, so I kinda want to interview at least one person every day/every other day.

Any suggestions for my next target?

I just thought it was interesting, and it really only takes up maybe 30 minutes of my time. It’s a conversation that I can have on my phone, and the type of work I do affords me a lot of time to read and post here.

its funny how he says it aint tax free.

so you counter by saying its it can be if it was a gift.

then his shawshank redemption ass tries to counter you with an agreement?

that just tells you how autistic these people really are. when they are verbally agreeing with you but somehow not?

but honestly, this does seem like a poor use of time. talking to phils fans would kill my brain cells

I’m gonna try and see if I can’t talk to grazydream tomorrow. Can anyone fill me in on what his current username is?

To the surprise of nobody, someone watching Phil named Poopster420 doesn't exactly come off as the brightest individual, but honestly, these conversations read like low tier reddit "gotcha" style posts. It really felt like it was less about Phil and his content and devolved more into pointless pedantic arguments about tax law or the ethics of calling someone a retard.

I get the interest in wanting to talk to Phil's fans to find out why someone actually enjoys his content. When BSV first showed up around here I hit him with a few walls of text, but when he danced around the questions or just gave nonsense answers, I let it drop. When he actually showed signs of self awareness and wanting to have a conversation, I'd try and engage. I don't think those conversations went much better than these in all honesty. Phil fans generally hit on the same talking points, with the main one being about what they believe is a positive community around Phil, sometimes finding him funny, and appreciating his honesty.

One issue is if it's someone from here initiating the conversation, the fan is going to be put on the defensive right away. It isn't impossible to open up someone's eyes, but it needs to be someone who is willing to listen and wants to have a conversation about it, not someone who is just defending themselves. That being said, it's also important to remember we're not here to take down Phil or convert his followers or anything like that. If you want to talk to his fans on your own time, go nuts, but unless it is something particularly juicy or entertaining, I'd reconsider whether it is worth sharing here. I'd also add a general warning about the autism sphere around DSP. It is a slippery slope, and if you let it suck you in, you'll end up hosting hours long SoK "interview" style podcasts pointlessly bickering back and forth with twitch rando's from Phil's chat.

The whole reason I want to do this is because I feel like it’ll give us all a good insight into how his tardlets think and feel about the facts. Knowing that some of his fans already know that he’s obsessed with money, it’s kinda interesting hearing the reasons WHY they do what they do.

I’ll cross post my convo with Majinboo5 here as well.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. Initiating the conversations I’m trying to be as impartial as possible, the poopster conversation just kinda devolved into what it did because he just wouldn’t stop talking about whether or not a monetary gift can be taxable.

When it comes to touching the doodoo, I stay far away from Phil. I don’t send emails or bitchears to him because he will either 1) ignore me or 2) keep hitting on the exact same points he always does.

The reason I did this and the reason I made the thread is to try and pick the brains of the people who actually enjoy his content. I’m trying to be unbiased and understand what makes these people tick. There are a bunch I would LOVE to talk to, but per Phil’s request they have disabled whispers on Twitch.

( I love how whenever a new DSP thread is made, getting featured in the "New Threads" section on the home page, you see these members posting that don't frequent the DSP Sub-Forum. You get used to thinking it's this isolated little world, but really everyone knows about the infamous DSP.)

Someone made the apt analogy that "Detractors" trying to reveal Phil's failures to him is like when people would try to get messages across to Truman in The Truman Show, only this Truman doesn't want to believe there's a world outside of DSPTV. The same goes for the "Phans". You can't make someone accept your help :/

The "debate" format the SOK, Bryan Dunn and TXT consistently fell into when talking with Phans never worked for the same reason the Truman Show messages don't work. Falling into a confrontational debate is an understandable reflex. "You're only hurting yourself! Just stop!" An impartial interview lead by the genuine curiosity of the interviewer, resisting the urge to help the stubbornly masochistic, will understandably bring better results.

In this case, ending on a confrontational sour note like "'Highly successful' your def an undercover detractor " hurts the possibility of getting useful info from this person in the future, or being introduced by this person to others with useful info. He might even spread it around that whispers about this stuff should be avoided.

This post basically reiterates @Cyber Bowling's post above, but I was almost done writing it when he butted his nose in, so :P Just to add to the remark about slippery slopes and what gets shared here: I know that recently a guy got booted for fail-doxing Mr. Metokur, and another got booted for calling himself a "Kiwi Farms journalist" on Craigslist. Null takes the site's image seriously, and the idea of a "Kiwi Farms journalist" has recently been mired. I don't really know where that line is, so be mindful, ya know? :)

Where's the interview? All I see is two people arguing about whether or not a 36-year-old hermit is required by law to report a large donation to the IRS.

If you really want to make it look and flow like an actual interview and get some interesting information out of it, start off by asking some broad questions (basically like how you started the conversation with MajinBoo5). Some more examples being:

- How long have you been watching/following DSP? (=> follow-up: How much do you know of his history on the internet?
- How did you come across DSP?
- What attracts you to him?
- What do you think are his strong and weak points?
- At what (specific) point did you decide to (start to) financially support him?
- Etc. etc.

Looking at the conversation in the OP, you instantly start attacking him and going into specifics, causing him to dig in and be all defensive. That will get you nowhere, most of the time. And it probably doesn't help either to try to interview people who you suspect of being a fantractor/deepcover troll, because they won't be (completely) honest anyway. And if they are honest about being an undercover detractor, then the only thing you've succeeded in is having interviewed a detractor. Well, I think you can find enough of those and I think we all pretty much know what they think of DSP...

Just a thought, no hard feelings.

I get the impression you do these "interviews" to open their eyes to the disgust in pigroach-form. This has absolutely no value, will have no success and prints an overall bad image of "us". Why attack them, when they just want to live in their dreamworld? This won't change their mind and - more importantly - we get absolutely nothing out of it except a chuckled "Lawl look how dense they are".

I suggest you try to be more neutral, a curious party. Ask the right questions which we have no answers for, @Comma already had some good ones.
  • What's the entertainment you get from Phil?
  • For how long are you a fan?
  • What's the range of your age? (x to 10, 11-15, 16-20, etc) I would keep that non-specific to keep up honesty
  • What's your thought on the climate of the chat? Good atmosphere? Some aspects you don't like?
I would be highly interested in some sort of statistic by interviewing his fans. A good set of data which let us understand their minds, we really need that, instead of poking in speculations.

Good plan, I just don't agree with your style.

Thanks for the feedback y’all. I’ll try to implement it into the next one.

@Haunter im DEFINITELY not trying to be a KiwiFarms journalist and I’m not gonna go posting ads on Craigslist hoping to get people to talk to me. Hahaha. This was just an idea and I appreciate all the feedback.

Wait, you have to pay taxes on gifts in the USA? I'm pretty sure 15k is well beneath that limit, and the guy is right in that he would report it (to get a tax credit I imagine), and Phil would be fine. I don't think it counts as income.
