I've realized that nothing on the internet can be safely discussed without idiots anymore.
Think of any pop culture thing you like. A movie, a TV show, video game, sports team or toy property. Now think of the internet discussion forums for any of of these things. Is anything free of morons?
I used to be really active on Transformers boards. You cannot post on a Transformers forum today without every third post being:
"hay guise i thnk optius prme is teh strngest autoonot what do u guys thnk?"
No movie, no matter how loved, is free from IMDB posts of:
"This was totally the worst movie evrr I was sooo bored".
Twitter has given voice to the every teenager in America, and the "Public Shaming" site is perfectly demonstrative of why most of them should never be allowed near a computer.
No cartoon is safe, because a Google search will yield drawings of the characters fucking.
No sports team's message boards/FB page are free of:
"yall are teh gaye fagits were bettr thn yuo fags"
Is there anything, ANYTHING that stupid people don't have access to? Remember when the internet required basic cognitive skills to access? Jeez, even AOL chat rooms in the '90s required SOME sort of a brain, the idiots were not NEARLY as plentiful as what exploded forth by the mid 2000's.
I hope this doesn't come across as a get-off-my lawn kind of thing, but I'm hoping some people here get what I'm saying. The post about "Sperg Prime" yesterday day got me thinking about how the internet has given every stupid person a voice now that it's so accessible. And the thing is, everyone thinks that they're so important, that every YouTube rant by some three-toothed moron is being viewed by millions of people and that they're actually intelligent. (Y'know, kind of how OPL was convinced he had a billion fans.)
Tell me I'm makin' some sense here.
