It's the age old question, which is more influential in a person's upbringing, nature or nurture? If Chris had been raised by competent parents, would he be a productive member of society, or would he be doomed by his genes to be a socially retarded screwup?
I just like the idea of an alternate universe version of Chris who's successful, kind, rich, handsome, and intelligent. And the idea of GoodChris meeting his screwup evil twin.

I feel like most of his fuckup-ery has been a result of how Borb brought him up. There's that big what-if regarding that "special school" he was encouraged to go to after the Greene County incident, and if going there could have set him on a good course for the rest of his life. We can't know for sure though, unless anyone wants to bend space-time to see how he's doing in the alternate quantum universe.

Nurture, it should be obvious by now. We have discused over and over how Borb were unfit to raise children in tandem and even worse at their old age.

Contrary to what he thinks, Chris was an accident not a miracle, a mentally handicaped person born from a couple of worn out barflies with the wrong mindset about mental illness. He never was properly nurtured to understand and cope with his disability, instead his ego and entitlement were the only thing nurtured by his parents.

Follow up question, could Chris be successful if he had gotten help as a child?

He was fucked from the start. Almost kinda sad.

It is actually kinda sad. He was screwed from the start by his asshole parents and never grew up. Even if someone recognized he needed help, his parents would have refused it and continued to heap constant praise on him, resulting in him being socially and emotionally stunted.
Of course, that doesn't change the fact that he's a fat, homophobic, perverted, stupid, childish, racist, creepy loser, and doesn't change the fact that the only remotely good thing he's ever done in his life has been bringing laughs to the people mocking him. So, even though I feel a little bad for him, that sympathy is quickly crushed by how goddamned retarded Mr. Pantsshiter is.

He's a product of God and the Bear, who sent him to earth for our amusement and bewilderment.

He's not a completely non-verbal autistic man. He's competent enough to drive a car, manage his own finances, and plead guilty in a court of law.

I'm going to have to go with "nurture." Chris has learned that certain behaviors are "bad" or "naughty," but his parents failed to provide the context for why that is so.

Case in point: trying to hide stolen Best Buy merchandise. He knew that stealing was against the law--as evidenced by his attempt to hide it--but his desire for new products overrode his moral compass and fear if getting caught. He's been conditioned by both his parents and his fractured mind that his desires outweigh the morality of his actions. This is a learned behavior, one gleaned from a lifetime of watching a pair of entitled caregivers bullying and whining to others when their own desires aren't met.

It might be the biggest mistake of my life, but if i saw him sitting all losery and pouty at a bar, i might buy him a beer, and be nice to him. Not even mention ive seen him fuck a love doll and drink cum cuz im a good guy like that.

Of course, the only living male who isnt a jerk is him, so he would probably throw it at me.

Depends what you mean by 'successful'. Do you mean rich, wealthy and famous like Satoshi Tahiti or Bill Gates? Probably not. If you mean "Able to overcome his disability and live a relatively normal, productive life", then absolutely. Saying he wouldnt make it in life just because it's Chris were talking about is seriously cruel.

How much of what he says is regurgitation i wonder? Like, when he said we all have our accidents, i bet someone told him that repeatedly. Has he ever spouted an opinion or thought that was totally his own?

True we can't know 100% for sure, but I feel like it's a pretty safe assumption that, had he gone to the special school as a child he certainly wouldn't be any worse off.

I was just thinking, what if Chris had applied the same obsessiveness he has with sonichu to something like engineering or chemistry?
