Nobody cares if you are a name and address on a line with hundreds of thousands of other names and addresses.
Your information is already public, just don't stick your neck so far out that someone goes out of their way to harass you.
Similarly, voting usually entails thousands of people for a county election alone.
TL;DR It is not a (new) problem. News always has and always will make a national name out of some exceptional individual. Compiling a "dox" wont make the situation any worse.

Digging into politician's pasts and uncovering unsavory shit for slander has been around forever. One of the main reasons Trump's been so frustrating to his detractors is that they can't find shit and have to overblow the tiniest things, like "Grab 'em by the pussy". And since that didn't work, they started having to make up stuff like the whole conspiracy theory that he's been working with Russia for some reason.
