The real sport in drag racing lies in the engine builds. I don't see it any different than comparing dyno sheets.
Absolutely. When you're power shifting through all of your gears in a matter of a few seconds it takes incredible skill to both maximize engine output and not fucking brick your tranny. If Need for Speed: Underground is anything to go by:
Drag racing requires precise timing to change gears at top speed without breaking down. It's not like a typical race; you need a straight road and lots of throttle to compete.

Blowing an engine is one thing, but blowing a tranny in drag racing should be avoided unless you're into that sort of thing. The real sport in drag racing lies in the engine builds. I don't see it any different than comparing dyno sheets.
I don't watch drag racing events on tv, but if you've never been to a NHRA race in person I have to recommend everyone go once. The top fuel cars are basically commiting violence against physics. However, just as with footraces, I can't understand the *spectator* part. Oh boy I can't wait to watch traffic.
