Is Facebook good? -

Just today I decided to deactivate my facebook account. I have had a facebook account since the summer of 2008, quite honestly I can't say Im truly better off for having it.

I believe it is the cause in me, and in many of depression, envy and lost hours of productivity. For that reason, I am offering the explanation that it is not a good thing and has made the world worse.

It connects you to many people, but makes you feel alone at the same time. You compare yourself to others, and almost encourages a form of exhibitionism, soliciting compliments/likes from random people.

What is your take? Is facebook good? bad?

Okay in small doses. Rarely use mine and when I do, it's so I can leave notes to people.

I found it was a handy way to keep up with friends who lived too far away to visit on a normal basis. It was also nice for checking on family members who lived far away and whom I wasn't close enough with to warrant regular phone calls. But that was about it. I stopped using it years ago and haven't missed it.
