That's too bad about Karl. I like the blackpowder stuff he is covering recently.

I was put off by the whole #muted shit but I guess I just won't watch InRange anymore if this is the direction he's gonna take it. Shame, I liked a lot of the videos.
The dumb article he linked: https://www.cnet.com/news/black-youtubers-sue-google/

This dude is such a sperg.
Why don't you make an actual video on the gays and the blacks being demonetized? No he just makes community posts so most of his audience doesn't see it.

Also he is just completely blind if he thinks social media censorship is affecting the gays and the blacks more than gun content and conservatives.

Oh no gay people and black people get demonetized and the algorithm doesn't promote their videos sometimes. While gun channels and conservatives across all social media, not just Youtube, get every video demonetized, videos outright deleted, their accounts suspended, or even just outright black listed.

That certainly didn't happen to forgotten weapons. When Karl demonitised InRangeTV Ian specifically said he wasn't doing the same for Forgotten weapons. Also notice how Ian stopped criticising YouTube a few years back (Ian used to for example get worked up over not being able to use NAZI thumbnails to show country of origin on his video). C&Rsenal had problems with their YouTube channel last year, and they referenced a 'friend' that helped them out. I think he's pretty well connected.

YouTube realises they need to have Gun Channels, otherwise those viewers will move platform. If I was a decision maker at YouTube, I might think that Ian is someone that would be very reasonable to work with.

Incidentally they do the same thing with right wing content, they push Tim Pool and Ben Shapiro into the feeds of people that lean right. YouTube knows it's not going to be able to change someones politics, but they influence what specific content people consume.

Karl is embarrassing as hell. Ian has routinely stayed away from his galaxy brain takes and as Karl gets more vitriolic I wonder how long Ian will stay associated with InRange. Ian has always been a 'do what you want' kind of guy but has actively gone against everything Karl has done with the channel. It's been fine when they are channel specific things like demonetizing from Youtube or uploading to PornHub even though he has specifically gone in the opposite direction of those decisions. But now that Karl is getting more inflammatory, more political, and has encouraged several people to leave the channel (including throwing out the time honored 'You're just a bigot!' excuse) I wonder how long it will be before Ian silently removes himself from the channel and Tacticool Fatass takes his place permanently.

Karl talks a lot of shit about the free market for someone who's entirely reliant on Patreon's business model.

He's a smart and knowledgeable dude, just not smart or knowledgeable enough to realize when he's dead wrong about something.

The thing that finally cemented this for me was an answer he gave on a recent Q&A when he dismissed the main cannon on armored vehicles as something that would soon be the way of the past and replaced with guided missiles. No. Just no. A smoothbore cannon barrel can launch more than just unguided munitions. It's a pressure chamber to allow for projectile speeds much higher than you get with open-air rockets. That's just physics. There are cannons right fucking now that launch smart projectiles. Part of the benefit of those systems is the way you can get a round downrange way faster (and frankly, cheaper) than with a guided rocket.

Maybe that's an autistic thing to focus on, but if I can see the issues with that statement, it makes me wonder about other answers he's given that I just haven't thought as hard about.

Between that, the first few episodes of his unwatchable podcast, and his smug "I can't believe people are making the scientific issue of Covid-19 into a political one" attitude for the past few months, I'm less likely than ever to tune in when the channel updates.

It's okay for him to take a political stance, and I'm often inclined to agree with him, it's just he has the unfortunate tendency to present his stance in a way that seems deliberately designed to alienate as many people as possible. He's not doing it to convince anyone, he's doing it to feed his ego.

I'm sick of consuming content where the creators obviously hold their audience in disdain, and I never thought I'd have to drop a fucking gun channel in order to escape that further.

On the one hand, it's interesting that Ian just posted a pistol caliber carbine time trial this weekend on Forgotten Weapons, when it seems that would be prime InRange content.

On the other hand, it's fairly obvious that the two are still legally entangled with regards to the WWSD carbine project, so they still have a close business relationship. It's just a question of whether the collaborative content will continue.

It wasn't obvious to me at all, until you pointed it out.

They've had business relationship before with gun manufacturers which have gone nowhere, and given Ian enjoys getting slapping down Patreons who ask questions about going into gun design, I'm kind of interested in how this will pan out.

I mean they're actually tooling up to make receivers, that's a significant financial investment. Particular as I imagine existing AR tooling is relatively cheap and easy to source.

I really hope Ian stays away from politics of any stripe. I don't tune into Forgotten Weapons to hear "Hashtag MAGA! Anyways, about this Luger..." or "You can see the effects of late stage capitalism on this cheap rifle" or "Today we'll be looking at an Isreali machine-gun, and you'll see why expelling them from X number of countries wasn't enough" etc etc etc.

I'm sick of consuming content where the creators obviously hold their audience in disdain
Anyways this is really it for me at the end of the day. If Karl wants to turn InRangeTV into "Karl's Politics (and guns)" then he's free to do so, of course. I'm not a cuck with a humiliation fetish though, I don't tune in to be called trash and a bigot. If Ian wants to keep doing InRange stuff with Karl, fine by me as long as the main FW stuff stays away from politics.

That's pretty rich considering he's in the past used the 'First time?' hanging meme to talk about how gun channels are treated on youtube.

The Inrange discord (patreon-locked, I think?) is a good vein for Karl salt. He hardly interacts with it but when he does, he piles in to bitch about haters on youtube, about youtube itself, or other pretty ree-ful topics. Most of the hardcore I've talked with from there are sick of it.

Note the tactical moden PCC shootout Ian did this week on his channel - with someone running the timer that wasn't Karl. I think he's already walkin' away, that's clearly Inrange content going on FW.

My big problem with Karl is that the production quality of the InRange history videos is still really low. This is despite the fact that he's apparently hired someone to assist (ie his girlfriend).

His video on the Danziger bridge shooting could have gone viral, but it never had a chance because the audio and video was so shit.

His problems are more fundamental than his politics. He's been on YouTube for years and is still uploading content, where either the video doesn't sync (ala his last solo Q and A) or he's got the presence of a fitted wardrobe.

The real Karl haters are those that think he could be better, if he'd just sort his fucking life out.

Oh look. More Civil Rights from Karl. I guess he's really trying to make this InRange's thing now.
Ian posted a Q&A on the FW channel today. He has not selected and answered any question about the current state of things, which I am sure have been asked by some of his patreons. He did include gems like "does your hair ever get stuck in your guns" .

At least he's sorted out the audio. Also the presentation in this video is a little better, normally for his scripted content he does his best impression of a fitted wardrobe.

It's an interesting topic, and there is something funny about the KKK planning a cross burning, only for insufficient numbers to turn up.

Continuing my earlier thought: This morning's Forgotten Weapons is another clear Inrange topic. 1911 vs. M1 Carbine on a competitive course and how that relates back to the weapons' relative concepts.

This is something that even a year ago Karl and Ian would've done together and gone on at length about their findings.

To be fair, I think that’s Karl running the timer. They both go to the same matches though, so no surprise. Although if anything it’s more strange that Karl is physically there in the video already, but not doing any of the follow-up discussion.
