Is There a Body Hair Double Standard? - Why do dangerhairs try to braid their armpit hair?

I had a group meeting earlier today about appearances and working from home, to make a long story short they told us that there was going to be a dress code and that we would be expected to keep up with basic grooming. During the meeting they informed us that if we wore sleeveless outfits, something only women can do according to our dress code, we need to shave our armpits. Without missing a beat our robust danger hair called it sexist claiming that men don't have to shave themselves. This got me thinking why do the danger hairs/feminist/body positivity people always claim that men don't shave their body hair.

Sure, Men don't have to shave their arm hair or leg hair as often but we do have a standard we have to keep ourselves to. Maybe it's because I work in sales and appearance is everything but I don't know any male coworkers that don't keep their Chest, Arm, Back, face, etc trimmed. Media constantly makes fun of the man with the hairy body and paints it as a disgusting trait.

So here is my question is there a body hair double standard or do women just use that excuse to not have to maintain themselves?

I guess it seems bullshit when you consider that women shaving was a trend started to sell more razors. That said sometimes there are certain things that are set standards in society, and you're certainly free to break or challenge them, but you can't expect everyone to accept the deviation. Someday it will probably be trendy for women to not shave. Just like how jeans used to be for white trash, tattoos weren't acceptable, men without facial hair were mocked etc. Now everyone wears jeans, tattoos are everywhere, and guys with facial hair are often viewed as soyboy faggots.

I've shaved my armpits for ages even though I'm a guy. It takes all of twenty seconds in the shower each day and does tons to cut down on stank.

Body hair outside of facial hair, leg hair and maybe armpit hair is absolutely seen as something men are supposed to either have little of, or trim or shave, and its outside of the norm for people to like or not mind it or have that much of a preference (not that its usually a dealbreaker). It gets annoying and kinda sucks if you do have a lot of body hair.

It's like that body positivity thing and saying men have no "beauty standards" theyre held to the way women do. Men absolutely do. Maybe you can argue they arent judged as harshly for it, but I would still argue it's about the same. When I say "neckbeard" it conjures an immediate standard appearance in someones mind.

Its not really a double standard, its kind of like getting haircuts or shaving in general, and I guess does come down to personal standards.

I think for some people, it gives off the impression of caveman/uncleanliness when it's actually normal for men to have some body hair. But if it becomes too much of a hygiene issue, it's best to just shave, and keep on top of it. Women do, too (mostly as peach fuzz unless she has more testosterone), but go find a guy who doesn't mind if his girl's legs are just as hairy as his.

Only because the beards they grow look pretty unkempt and disgusting and they don't have a mountain man nature to explain why they have that kind of beard. Neckbeards don't look good, either, especially if the guy's got a double-chin going on. This lack of personal hygiene and beard-keeping shouldn't be such a problem, I don't get why there are so many guys who're too lazy or inept to take care of themselves.

Look, even if I didn’t look like a lumberjack from the neck down I wouldn’t go to work sleeveless. It’s just the bare minimum needed to be professional-looking.
As for beards, some men just look better with a clean face and some look better with a beard. Depends on the style of beard as well.
Men and women have different expectations put on them, that’s just a fact of life. You can defy those all you want, but don’t act surprised when people look at you weird.

I think porn and media has greatly influenced whether body hair is "gross" or not. For me it's just hair so I don't shit a brick if I don't shave my legs for a while. Being tidy is okay but not necessary as long as you have great hygiene. That being said, with underarm hair etc it does lower the stank if that's kept under control.
