Is there a way to archive digital media that might get banned for being problematic? I’m thinking specifically about Futurama and the “Bend Her” episode.

There are a few other episodes of some other shows that might get the axe too in the next several years and I’d rather preempt it.

If you can download the media, there's a bunch of archival tools you can use that you're probably familiar with if you've spent enough time on this website. If not, you can probably at least record it and go from there.

  • Print the page as a PDF
  • Save the page locally. Messy and you have a content folder to lug around.
  • wget -m $siteurl
  • youtube-dl
  • https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube_downloader_webx/ (if you download the git source and load it as an unpacked extension in chrome it work in chrome.)
  • Maybe IPFS. When pigs fly, I'll become a pig pilot.
  • Find the datacenter. Get a uniform costume off Amazon. Sneek in as an electrocution. Wait in the bathroom for 2 hours to come down (remember a out of order sign for the stall. You'll need to pull your legs up to your chest wile sitting on the toilet.) Get the sysadmin's password off bottom of keyboard. Search C-panel for the site you want and clone it to usb stick and the leave. (remember to wear an infra-red strobe line so the CCTV can't see you.)
Anyone else have some ideas?
Maybe archive.org, but least reliable. Good for DVD rips though.
