I remember the original book and miniseries fondly (though the latter was actually really hilarious in hindsight thanks to Tim Curry) and I'm interested to see what they do with this new adaptation.

I guess there's only so many ways you can shoot a clown menacing a kid from a storm drain, but that whole thing seems really, really derivative of the TV movie in the way it looks.

Just saw the trailer yesterday. Alot of people thought the miniseries was pretty campy and admittedly when I watched it again Curry chews the scenery in every frame he's in but as a kid it really scared the crap out of me and curry will always be endearing to me (shame he's in the condition he's in)

Anyway the trailer looked pretty cool. Definitely will check it out.

Well, that was part of the original novel too. IT was essentially the master of this town and had power/authority over all the adults that kids would normally turn to. Heck, the only real reason why IT was defeated was because IT was so cocky and flamboyant.

Tbh I didn't even notice it wasn't the 50s so I doubt they'll be obnoxious about it

I agree about the movie being set in the 50s giving it charm, tbh the first thing I started to worry about when you said that was 'Man what about the music and all those references? REEEEEEEE' but yeah it's a 2 hour something movie so lots of those small details are gonna be lost either way

Yep, that straight up happened in the book. Doubt it'll be in the movie.

Yep, that part is definitely in the book. Somewhere or other I think he's said he regrets including that bit, that he would have done things differently. I think IT was the last book he wrote before he gave up the booze, pills and coke. Maybe that had something to do with that whole business, dunno.
