The Japanese knew it 50 years in advance.
Reccoa's heel-turn during the later part of Zeta was one of the problems I had with the series.Having rewatched CCA the other week, I thought Nanai seemed a bit too "motherly" for Char compared to someone like Haman or Lalah Sune. But I never thought Char a romantic type anyway, he seems like the sort of guy who ties together sex with manipulation. Like in Zeta with his relationship with Reccoa. He's the sort who wants his woman to serve his personal interests and casts them aside whenever they're useless. So he's not actually a lolicon like Gyunei speculates in the movie, he'll just fuck a loli like Lalah Sune if it serves his purpose. But speaking of Reccoa, manipulation via sex/romance isn't really Char's specialty compared to someone like Scirocco. For Scirocco, it's pretty much his main tool, but for Char it's one of many tools.
I dunno, I've always liked /m/ on 4chanWhich forums are the best for Gundam discussion?
I disagree, I think the show set up well why Reccoa did what she did (compared to other times Tomino did this like Katejina in Victory which wasn't explained well)0 since she was looking for a strong male figure to be with (given the circumstances of her earlier life) and Char basically rejected her. Scirocco was able to be that guy since he's so damn manipulative and had it as his goal the entire time.Reccoa's heel-turn during the later part of Zeta was one of the problems I had with the series.
"Hmm, I could complete my mission to help my friends and stop this out of control genocidal fascist army...but OMG that Scirroco is just soooo dreamy!!!"
But she's a grown ass woman who hypothetically already knows why she joined the AEUG and is fighting the Titans in the first place. If she switches sides to join the space Schustaffel simply because she's not getting the male attention she wants, it's a sign of serious emotional immaturity and lack of moral character. I'm sorry, but the whole thing just struck me as stupid and played to soap opera-esque stereotypes about emotional women.I disagree, I think the show set up well why Reccoa did what she did (compared to other times Tomino did this like Katejina in Victory which wasn't explained well)0 since she was looking for a strong male figure to be with (given the circumstances of her earlier life) and Char basically rejected her. It's also a stark contrast to the character arc of Zeta Gundam's Best Girl.

Shiro..........is an idealist, pretty much. Which is why he's able to just talk to Aina instead of just gunning her down or promising to gun her down the next time they meet. He's still young enough to be controlled by his hormones, not old enough to become a jaded asshole who can't see the humanity on the other side. He wants to stop atrocities, but that doesn't automatically translate to "I WANNA KILL THEM ZEEK BASTARDS!"Of course this is a bit of a problem I have with the characterization of Shiro in 08th MS Team.
"I've witnessed firsthand the kind of atrocities that the Zeon carry out and should otherwise be fully committed to stopping them...but man that Sakhalin woman has got a great ass!"
Those last 12-13 episodes are insane on so many levels. It's every plot piece of the show coming together at once with some of the best fights in all mecha anime.Came in here expecting more discussion of why G Gundam is the best and was disappointed.
My man Domon Kasshu saved his woman, made her a cocktail dress out of his cape, and then blew up Robot Satan with the power of love.

People don't give G Gundam enough credit. All they see is a series they want to make fun of, when really, it had a very nuanced take on both the giant robot and the shonen genres, while at the same time, it had some of the best giant robot battles of the 90s, and it was also a fertile ground for memes.Came in here expecting more discussion of why G Gundam is the best and was disappointed.
