Military service is mandatory in Israel, for men and women. There are certain exemptions that one can claim to avoid service, however - religious reasons, residence abroad, or physical and mental disability. Recently, the IDF has begun accepting autistic individuals on a case-by-case basis. Those with high-functioning autism can work in clerical or secretarial roles, or in service positions, but one intelligence unit has found that many soldiers with autism are invaluable assets in the field of surveillance and image analysis.

It's a shame that Ahuviya's been living off the streets, exploiting the kindness of strangers, ruining friendships with their toxic behavior, and being a useless fat exceptional individual in particular. Maybe spending some time learning to serve the State of Israel would have instilled Ahuviya with the responsibility and self-sacrifce they needed to become a functioning adult.
