Oh boy! Christmas! It's almost here and I have yet to buy anything, but it's Still almost CHRISTMAS! CHRISTMAS! It CRISMAs! OH!

There's always been something special about Christmas, as ridiculously overhyped of a holiday it can be at times, there's always been a special sense of awkward togetherness about it, and it's just great like that. What's even more fitting about this is once you learn how modern day "Christmas " is actually an awkward amalgamation of multiple holidays. And the best part is it happens during the beginning of Winter! That means I get to see others upset about a mildly chilly day. I'm thankful Summer is two seasons away, although spring and fall have felt like summer these past few years and it's been terrible. bugs don't even seem to hibernate anymore around here! Can't wait for the snow to cleanse em.

Today's the day A Christmas Carol was published in 1843, so I've been binge-watching the different versions all day. I've watched the George C. Scott, Reginald Owen, and Patrick Stewart versions, I'm currently on Alistair Sim, and I'm going to watch the Muppet/Michael Caine one before I go to bed.

One of my favorite things to do is to curl up in a ball and rock back and forth on the couch, I find the movement to be quite fun and it helps me relax when there's loud noises.

In my Eastern European homeland, two Christmases are official holidays (the Catholic one on December 25 and the Orthodox one on January 7) and two New Years are being observed (January 1 and the very symbolic Old New Year on January 14). All of that is possible thanks to the significant number of people here being Catholics and the reactionary view of the Russian Orthodox Church on calendars (it still uses the old Julian calendar).
Winter holidays at schools here start on Catholic Christmas's Eve and end after the Orthodox Christmas.

Also, winter holidays wouldn't be winter holidays here without this bloody jingle played every 15 minutes on all TV channels:
