It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia -

  • Intermittent Denial of Service attack is causing downtime. Looks like a kiddie 5 min rental. Looking into some solutions.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only fan here. Anyone else enjoy the show or have a personal favorite episode/moment?
Mine have to be the entire episode of Thunder Gun Express ("I hear he hangs dong"), but Frank Sets Sweet Dee On Fire and The DENNIS System are also pretty hilarious.

You're not the only fan around here Toboggan. I love It's Always Sunny. Not quite as much as Trailer Park Boys but the two shows are God-tier in my opinion.

My favorite episode might be the one where Mac and Charlie get stuck in an abandoned pool. I can't remember what the episode is called but I do distinctly remember the phrase "I live on the fringe; Fringe class!"

What also comes to mind is Charlie's recollection of "Psycho Pete" from the High school reunion episode.

True story - Jack Thaddeus got me into IASIP. I was at MAGfest with some PVCC people, including Marvin and most of us were sharing the same hotel room. Anyways, Jack had IASIP playing on the TV constantly and I watch it and I'm like "Wow, this is like Seinfeld except they're not whiny New Yorkers!"

Also, fun fact - Charlie Day, who plays Charlie on the show, is actually married to the actress who plays The Waitress in real life.

That fact will never not be jarring to me.

Also, I just remembered the episode where the Gang visit the Jersey Shore. More specifically, I remembered the part where Charlie and the Waitress hang out on the beach and generally just enjoy each others company for once. The revelation at the end that she was just high the entire time has got to be the most earnestly sad moment of the entire show.

Seriously, what a bummer that ending was. :heart-empty:

Oh yes, the pool! That was from the white trash episode.
I love the music choices. They pull out some of the strangest selections. Informer got stuck in my head for days after the episode where Dee had the baby. Then The Right Stuff on Charlie's Mom Has Cancer. I had to learn that bass line after Dr. Jinx played it. I'm slightly ashamed.
At this point, only Charlie and Dee haven't banged the waitress.

Yeah, very sad, though I love how Charlie took it.

(Not that it's a strange piece of music, but I'm just very amused at this scene.)

From the same episode, after Charlie and Frank ask Carmen the Tranny about gay marriage.
Frank: Two dudes getting married? That doesn't sound gay at all!

Sucks that they still had to pay full price instead of a couples dance.

I'm thinking about picking up the DVDs just because. I don't know. Every once in awhile I'll quote something from the series like "for all you know I could have a fistful of hammers & a trunk full of duct tape and zip ties" or "I'm a winner, and winners like me don't hear the words 'no,' 'don't,' or 'stop.'"
Edit: I mainly use those to mess with people.

I think my favorite character on the show is Carmen, because she's hot, and probably one of the most well-written transgendered characters on TV. They gave her a personality (sporty, active, legitimately nice), they had a woman play her, and she's one of the few characters whose life isn't destroyed by the gang.

Honestly, both Mac and Charlie are extremely lovable too, especially when you see the Christmas episode. Hell, I love how depressing Dee is and how fucked-up and sociopathic Dennis is. And I love Danny Devito, so of course I like Frank.

The series better end with Mac finally admitting his sexuality (it's definitively not straight, but he he did love Carmen who I consider a woman with or without the bulge), and marrying Dennis because they belong together. Fuck Sherlock and Watson, it's Mac and Dennis, they are the OTPs to end all OTPs.

Also, sometimes when I'm in the shower, I'll sing songs from"The Nightman Cometh."

Reviving this long-dead thread in honor of the new season. I just watched the newest episodes back to back and holy shit, I'm amazed that this show has managed to stay so funny for 11 seasons. It's unreal.

My favorite character is Dennis (although Dee is a close second). The "Dennis is secretly a serial killer and a sociopath" hints are by far my favorite running gag in the series. Some of my favorite incidents:
  • The "implication" scene, of course.
  • When he asks Mac if he "remembers feelings," as Dennis himself has not had any in years.
  • During the high school reunion when Dennis, in a fit of rage, opens a secret compartment in his car's trunk to gather his "tools," which include zip ties, duct tape and various other instruments to subdue and restrain people ("I like to BIND! I like to BE BOUND!!!")
  • The DENNIS System (Demonstrate value, Engage physically, Nurture dependence, Neglect emotionally, Inspire hope, and Separate entirely)
  • His many delusions of godhood.
  • When he gets medication for borderline personality disorder just by talking to a doctor, which he takes as evidence for his supreme persuasive skills... although Dee points out that he actually just got diagnosed.
  • In that same episode, Dennis tells Dee he is going to skin her and turn her skin into a lampshade or fashion her into a piece of high end luggage. He then goes on saying he could even add her onto his collection. When Dee asks him if he really has a collection of skin luggage, he replies "Of course not Dee, don't be ridiculous. Think of the smell. YOU HAVEN'T THOUGHT OF THE SMELL, YOU BITCH!"
  • "I'm not going to take no for an answer because I just refuse to do that, because I'm a winner and winners... we don't listen to words like 'no' or 'don't' or 'stop!' Those words are just not in our vocabulary."
  • The revelation that he is "wanted for questioning" by the police in many different cases.
  • In the most recent episode ("Frank Falls Out a Window"), Dee states that he only wanted to become a veterinarian so he could collect animal skins.
Holy fuck, Glenn Howerton's line delivery gets me every single time.

This is one of those shows that I like but need to go back and just have an all out marathon of the episodes I haven't seen so I can catch up.

If you've got Netflix, seasons 1-10 are all available for streaming!

Of course I do. I just haven't used Netflix in a while and I'm always thinking that they might have gotten rid of the show somehow like they did with a few of the other ones. I would pirate them but I don't want to deal with News Corp trying to come down on my ass and emailing my ISP for doing that.

It's one of my favorite shows, but I do wish they'd stop going meta. Both of the episodes thus far this season relied on rehasing old jokes, callbacks, and nostalgia. I like it when it's a subtle thing, like seeing Fight Milk or Paddy's merchandise clips whenever they play a new video, but whole episodes predicated on the concept are lame.

Also: they're getting really on the nose with "Dennis is a serial killer".
