I didn't see a thread on this so i'll make one. tell me what your favorite Tool song is, and why you like it.
For me it has to be ticks & leeches. It's heavy and unforgiving, making it awesome to play along with or jam out to. my favorite part of it is probably the part at 3:00 where it switches to muted chugging... what i like about tool is that they never overdo the chugging like many other metal bands do. it's light enough to leave you wanting more but heavy enough to satisfy you.

I went to one of their concerts last year and I really dig their new album Fear Inoculum - especially pneuma, which kicks ass from start to finish. I would've gone with lateralus or hooker with a penis before.

Wait, wait. I think you're confused broham. I didn't make a second post. I just edited and posted the meme above me because it was like, y'know foretelling. I'm on mobile so I couldn't simply insert my quotes on an edit so that seemed alright to me.

I think Vicarious is bretty good in places and have a certain fondness for it. The lyrics are cringey, but that hasn't stopped me from liking most of Tool's work before, in fact I think it's part of the experience, embracing the stupid earnestness of the songs' messages as complementing the good technical work, not detracting from it. Ultimately I have to agree with 46/2 just because of the driving bassline they manage to sustain through the whole song.

P.S. the exception is Jambi, which I realise is supposed to be about Maynard's mom, but I just can't handle it. I much prefer the parts of Vicarious where he's just saying "woap agh weegh ooh yaph haph butter"
