Right, now I am seriously worried about the safety of his mom. The woman is clearly over her head and his having to carry around mace to protected herself from her drug addicted son.

Do you seriously think she is danger? Or are we just making Jace into a bigger menace than he is?

I'm not a mental health professional, so I can't say anything about whether or not he poses an actual danger to her. But I will say that she needs to do something beyond taking the 'Pray the Cray Away' approach she's seemed to favour so far.

No, I really doubt Jace would actually harm her, or anyone else. Fearing he might hurt someone is a common reaction until you realize how cartoonishly childish he is. It's like a kid playing cops and robbers.

Example: He talked for weeks about "taking out" Brandon as if he was going to kill him with an axe, but what actually happened was he speed-walked up to his empty house, threw a roll of toilet-paper over a bush, discharged an airsoft gun at a door while remaining about 30ft away, before speed-walking away really nervously. He was literally shaking, his voice quivering, from the fear and excitement, and that was his idea of the most epic thing he's ever done to defeat an enemy. He was so paranoid of reprisal after doing it that he literally laid on his back in his basement, and later his bathtub, for about two hours waiting for a counterattack.

So long story short, his idea of "taking out" his mom would probably involve carefully peering out his window and squeezing off a few BB's at her when she's out watering the plants before ducking back inside, covering all the windows with tarp, queing up this on his IPod and lighting up a joint to wear down the stress and celebrate another successful counter-terrorist mission.

Don't forget how hard he freaked out when he pulled the seatbelt too fast and it locked up on him. I could swear he was about to cry.

Much like Chris, Jace is unlikely to ever intentionally hurt someone. But also like Chris, he's a menace to society when he's driving.

While she's awake, yeah. If I were her I'd be more worried about what happens when asleep. Jace might seem harmless, and yeah he does carry around an airsoft pistol, but did anyone here forget the fact that he's also carrying an ACTUAL combat knife with the words "Semper Fidelis" written on the blade with a sharpie? Quality and craftsmanship aside, he can still do some damage with that thing.

I'd be more worried that he'd hurt her or himself during one of his paranoid pretend special-ops flailspasms than that he'd harm anyone on purpose. Like, I think he's more likely to break his own leg crawling in and out of his window.

Yes.

Some people are "all talk and no game". He's pretty much all talk and all game. He wouldn't recognize a terrorist if he walked right into Osama's beard, he simply calls whoever he feels betrays him a terrorist or a traitor. He's dissapointed in his mother for not being more supportive in his counter-terrorist activities. Deep inside he still knows harming the woman who keeps him from starving to death would be a very unpatriotic and un-American thing to do.

Jace is comically inept, remember that. His incompetence rivals that of Chris at times. His idea of revenge (as pointed out already by DeagleDad) is childish pranks. I don't think he's ever ventured the least bit towards actual Harris & Klebold territory.

I will say that my initial gut reaction when Jace said that he was barricading himself in his room and hating on his mom was something like "Ah mah gawd! Jace is going to become an Adam Lanza!!!!11". But then I thought about how Jace actually is. He's childish, immature, excitable and delusional, but I don't think he'll ever harm his mom. He might like to play pretend, but I don't think he's THAT far gone.

That being said, I don't blame her for carrying mace. He's behaving like a crazy, erratic person at the moment. She's probably worried he might go into another drug trip or Stryker fantasy and get violent. Jace better cool it, or he might find himself doused with pepper spray.

Pretty much. On his own, Jace couldn't fight his way out of a damp towel. If he was taking hard drugs, I'd be concerned. But weed? Nah. The only battles he'll get in are the ones against the evil duo of Mountain Dew cans and Cheez-it boxes.

Coming to think of it, that might actually be one of the worst things that could happen to him. His tacticool flame shades would probably prevent most of the stuff from getting into his eyes, but considering that his asthma gives him huge coughing fits at the slightest irritation of his respiratory tracts, inhaling even a tiny bit of mace could be pretty dangerous.

I'll say the same thing about Jace I say about Chris: he's too fucking useless to ever actually harm someone intentionally. The only concerns I have are his colossal stupidity putting himself in a scenario he doesn't understand. A guy who drinks canola oil to stop ricin gas could easily be talked into mixing ammonia and bleach to "create a smokescreen" or something.

If anything does get serious, as in something happens that leads to certain authorities looking back on the whole timeline of his internet dealings, I'm sure many of us would certainly buck up and, in the most extreme case, call her and tell her to get out of dodge.

Realistically it would never get to *that* point, hopefully, but I believe we looking from the outside in, and even those choice few that are rather inside, will do the right thing when it is needed.
