I think this has to do more with the internet and generally, business policies. I'm pretty sure about the same would happen if the involved business were in Ireland or whatever. No national body has had any involvement in this whatsoever (except for the restraining order stuff, but that's only loosely relevant.)

Really, its about Twitter taking any of this seriously. On the other hand, if a business DOESN'T take even stupid petty shit like this seriously, the fallout can be far worse for said company. And remember, we as Deagle Nation enthusiasts have a bit of a better understanding of Jace and his eccentricities to the outside observer since we so closely follow him. If someone in a bar stood up to you and said "I'M GONNA KICK YOUR HEAD IN", you'd probably take it at face value. Maybe that guy's friends at the other table all know he's a weakling and a pacifist with absolutely zero ability or intention to kick your head in, but you don't know that.

Thought, if Neogaf is anything to go by, Wu team will make sure that nobody understands that Jace is not the Joker of Vidjas but a dude that would end as hobo or in a mental hospital for almost killing himself.

She gets a mentally ill dude kicked off Twitter for threatening a street race and the media make her out to be the good guy? And she gets her own Law and Order episode? Fuck this shit.

Watching the preview linked in her blog, that episode has little do to with Brianna Wu. I think she's self inserting.

First off, remember that TV takes a while to produce. That episode was most likely written and shot anywhere from 6 months to a year ago, not last week, so all the shit with Jace has no relevance (other than it happened around the time the episode is to air, so its kinda used to promote said episode).

Second off, the subject is similar, but not exact. It seems to be about online video game harassment in general. Gamergate-esque death threats are involved (towards women, but its an SVU episode, and thats kinda what SVU is about), but it also mentions swatting and doxxing. The episode doesn't laser line focus on Wu's misadventures on the internet as much as it generalizes the bullshit involved with harassment and video games on the internet from time in memoriam (but with some modern twists, like swatting.)

Third, and this may just be my personal opinion, the victim doesn't remind me of Wu at all. First and foremost, she's biologically female, and maybe the SVU writing team didn't want to add extraneous details to the story such as transgender issues, they are a big factor in Brianna Wu's situation. The character is also of a foreign descent - Wu and Zoey Quinn both are both about a white bread american as they come, so this character seems to be more of a Anita Sarkeesian analogy. Thirdly, she doesn't act like Wu - the SVU character says she wants no police presence at her super successful game launch, as it would just be another way that the harassers and trolls would win (reminds me mostly of Sarkeesian's responses to harassment, furthering my opinion that the character is primarily an analogy of her). Brianna Wu, on the other hand, has charged President Obama with arresting Hotwheels for fucks sake. Lastly, (and this might just be me being mean), her game being launched is purportedly super successful, and Brianna Wu's own game has been anything but if all the Steam Greenlight stuff is any indication.

I think Brianna Wu is just self inserting herself into the SVU victim character's role. She mentions the character is an amalgamation of "ME, Zoey Quinn, and Anita Sarkeesian", mentioning herself first. She correlates the narrative in the episode with her recent issues with Deagle Nation (and its defectors ), when they have little to do with one another, given the episode was written months, if not a year before, and its only coincidence that the release of the episode and this episode of The Conners Show came out so closely (maybe one of DeagleDad's staff members ghostwrites for SVU ).

There's probably figures out there for how long your average episode takes from writing to air. The show's been going long enough and pulls "RIPPED FROM TODAYS HEADLINES" often enough.

She, Anita and Zoe are propagating the idea that "being an asshole and make big issue of everything" is a valid tactic against trolling when they knew that they a popular because of it.

i wonder what would happen to them if all important ass patters (Wu's parents, Anita with press and some developers, Zoe Indie circle) suddenly disappear and they are in their devices to appeal others. Anita lies in her videos would not be "well intentioned mistakes" anymore, Wu's game launches in Steam as a cult hit ala Bad Rats and Zoe maybe actually tries to improve as a person.
