I genuinely think the drugs and his spoiled upbringing have retarded jaron's maturity to the average middle schooler's level. I haven't really seen him express any kind of complex or abstract thought, a horrifying level of vapidity to see in an adolescent or adult. He is positively vacuous. I am positive he would insist stereotypes make the woman and would simply brand anything else transphobia. That is the way I remember his argument with Amir's mom about if dating him was gay or not. There is little thinking involved.

There is the sunk cost fallacy, too. He has sacrificed his body and social life to this farce. Most people shield themselves from understanding things that are too painful, it takes a lot of time and thought to break through the self protective measures that are in place to keep people from drastically changing their lives. People who don't shield themselves at all are prone to existential anxiety, it isn't a great trait.

No matter where you are in the theology/atheism/feminism/tradcath realm, Jazz has a lot of darkness surrounding him.

The reason why "spoiling" kids is called that and is considered bad is that you're not doing the kid a favor. And it's something that's inflicted on the kid and that the kid has no control over.

I hate to bring "Handmaid's Tale" into this discussion, but I thought June should have left Janine with the woke overlord in Chicago. Janine is exactly that kind of friend who is happiest orbiting some dude and that's okay. Women friends make silly decisions for themselves. Part of being a good woman friend is realizing that your friends are different and they don't always have the same set of priorities that you do and that's okay. Meeting people where they are.

This post I am responding to assumes that Jazz has a set of choices that he is rejecting.

I would counter a lot of this by saying that Jazz is a person who does not exist outside of the expectations and wishes of other people.

He needs to cut the expectations away from the reality. And learn to discern which is which.

Kinsey has one sad story:

She was born with what htey thought was Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome which destroyed her kidneys they later found out she has some orphan genetic disorder that no one else has.

She also has severe cardiomyopathy which limits the amount of blood her heart can pump out.

Plus, she has autism, ADHD and some learning difficulties.
