Jason "Jay" Walkow, creator and host of Jesus Chatline, died last month to cancer - The one time where you wished it was another one of his ruses.

If you're somehow out of the loop, Jesus Chatline was a religious talk-show hosted by the fictional character Steven Chilton (played by Walkow). Streamed live on the internet, featuring a pastor who acted with hostility towards mentions of homosexuality and with an easily accessible hotline number, conditions were rife for many from /b/ to call in to try to toy with Steve and his faith.

As time progressed, the story of Steve and co-host Richard became more and more elaborate, including a stream to raise funds to bail them out of "jail", and Steven getting trolled at his own fake funeral (with him temporarily coming back to life to take a drink.) The ruse was eventually revealed in may of 2012, but the show soldiered on until October, but Steven quickly found himself back on his feet for the equally #pronkd politics podcast, "Rumbled Feathers". These sagas were highly received and were major inspirations in the creation of Jace Connors and The Fact Zone, a man who really needs no introduction if you're registered here.

Behind the scenes, Jason was fighting cancer as of last year, but that didn't stop him from continuing another JC-style project named "Haulin' Ass". It's evident going through the thumbnails of Haulin' ass that it was taking a toll on him, and unfortunately On October 16, he lost his battle and passed away. He was 48. The news has been confirmed by multiple cast members out-of-character and there's an obituary on the Winnipeg press:

They apparently split up after his diagnosis, there's a video from amanda that talks very vaguely about how she was in a bad relationship, but it's clearly about Jay. Said video comes from a camgirl website btw so interpret that how you will about who was the bigger problem in the relationship she talks about.

oh I missed all this. I stopped calling into and following Haulin' Ass about the time Jay paywalled everything except the live broadcasts.
