JDR is 'merican. I forget exactly from where, but I want to say the West Coast. There's a yuge autobiography on transsexuality.org that tells you just what a hard weird life she had up until having a vagina installed. It's... actually pitiable, and she's probably significantly autistic.

Apparently JDR has a Youtube channel. While checking it, I find

Also one of her "wives" in a ... Well just look at the thumbnail

Yes, I know. She's the kind of batshit crazy you can only find in America. She's like Henry Darger, HP Lovecraft, and Timothy Dexter rolled up into one syncretic package. One can only tell what kind of upbringing and mental health issues brought about the likes of a broken genius like her. Then it brings into question what kind of person would she be today were one single variable in her life different. About that autobiography, I'm in the process of reading it, and I will read it again.

Given the sheer amount of projection and self-insertation she does in her webcomics, especially Pastel Defender Heliotrope, I suppose those also count as autobiographies, albeit surreal and distorted versions of them. You can see a piece of her in every single character (except the baddies). All of them, Spock-like, thoughtful scholars who communicate in whopping huge walls of text. And then you realize that they talk like she writes. Golden age science fiction authors are abhorrent writers of dialogue as they preoccupy themselves with concepts instead of characters.

I find most weeaboos to be extremely naive in the realm of tropes, mainly because they are young and do not consume media before this millennium. In forms they are endlessly surprised by tropes that have been done to death decades before. Rarely do I see someone who is well versed in both Golden Age science fiction and 90s Anime, and spins those two together with a heavy helping of Underground Comix.

Expect me to post a series of read-throughs of that autobiography in this thread in the near future, accompanied by screenshots with every paragraph. Or maybe on another subforum, on its own thread, if the mods won't allow it here. So prepare yourself to witness a most elaborate vivisection the likes of which the world has never seen before!

JDR is old school weeb which means JDR was probably involved with Cartoon/Fantasy back in the day. That fursuit her wife has may very well be older than most Kiwis. Think about that.

Yet another reason why I wish I could have met her years ago, and maybe tell her about the current state of the fandoms she pioneered before a heavily homebrewed game of D&D. Considering what wild rides her campaigns were, I envy what little friends she had in high school. She grew up during the Satanic Panic in a community that was full swing into that kind of moral fuckery. It almost seems inevitable that she would have been drawn into the inchoate beginnings of nerd culture, and most of all anime and manga, which glamorizes the supernatural while the Americans of that time demonized it. You see so many modern tumblrites going "tee-hee! I'm so edgy because I drew a cute and innocent misunderstood creature! Take that, christfags!" but she's the ur-example.

We associate furries with sexual deviants online who pump out horrifying abominations under the generous patronage of anonymous brain surgeons and lawyers. It's so embedded into modern internet culture that we can't quite fathom furry culture before the turn of the millennium. OCs, Art Trades, Commissions, YCHs, all 21st century concepts! Yet in the distant past we've traces of their natal stages, gestating, before the memetic tropes of what we know as the furry fandom fully solidifed.

She's a great example of cultural development regarding subcultures. Just how, I often ask myself, do personalities associated with science fiction and disney imagination worm its way into the fertile field of the internet where it blossoms out into the mainstream?

If only those people knew the influence their particular obsessions would make on the zeitgeist decades later.

Lately I found a meme comparing her to OPL and their respective fursonae:

She apparently was trooning out in the 1970s. JDR is a Boomer. Somewhere on the web sight it is written that apparently the only functional member of that household met JDR after knowing JDR in high school and they were looking for Robotech stuff because apparently Carl Macek butchered Macross. (He uh, didn't. At least not the Macross bit of Robotech)

I'm looking forward to your stuff. JDR apparently had a horrifically abusive childhood and was probably autistic - those things I believe. As for the rest, eh . . . JDR was in San Francisco in the 70s. There's another autobiography by a tranner on that web sight who ALSO had a horrifically abusive childhood, and was ghosted by JDR after being invited to join the JDR polycule. Probably for the best.

"Her characters look like what Robert Crumb would have drawn if he became a weeaboo"

I've said it before and I'll say it again I blame Fritz the Cat for certain segments of the furry movement.

JDR was one of the first weirdos I found on the internet in it's early days. Just the webcomics alone are crazy, but also have a kind of charm to them. I can't bring myself to hate them because there is a lot of thought and love put in to them that you just don't see with today's lolcows.

My personal favorite is To save her. Where else can you find a comic that ends with most of the cast getting killed and then it has a fun color/activity book to go with it. As usual JDR is ahead of her time and had an adult coloring book before it was an in thing.

There was also the section that was made up like it was a behind the scenes look at To Save Her, complete with "interviews" with the cast.

That little bit extra is what made JDR special. I kind of wish she would put that kind of thought in to her work again and not just MLP fanfic.

When she makes something, she doesn't leave it at there. She treats her own work like it's a multimedia franchise, with addons and all sorts of jazz. That kind of enthusiasm is the sort of stuff that only someone who truly delights in what they're doing can create. Like a daydreaming child, which is a theme which i'll cover in my readthrough. While she does act childish at some points, her childlikeness is an integral part of who she is as a person and it has a great bearing on her art. If I had a degree in psychology, my read through would probably be twice as long.

All things considered, the readthrough is coming right up.

A pretty normal early childhood if I do say so myself. Until one fateful moment, revealing her first traces of feminity: emotional sensitivity. But then again, I grew up in a place, time and culture very different from hers. Judging by the amount of eccentrics that America churns out, it's no surprise there's something off about the social cohesion over there. Individualism has a price, and I take it that it brought out something primal in the boys whom she grew up with. This was the sixties, where American cultural was experiencing an upheaval. But I suppose the transition was pretty slow where Jennifer was growing up.
2.JPG

Pulling that off would have earned me a fair bit of ridicule in 00s New Zealand. One can only imagine the sheer humiliation it would have brought down on her in 60s Oregon. Which is the most conservative state in the USA. Her bad experiences with the male gender (and the stigmas imposed upon adulthood) from then on manifest in a variety of ways, particularly in her works and her tastes in art, which I will cover later.
3.JPG

Looks like intelligence runs in the family. In this case, it's something like an innate talent shaped by the circumstances around you. In Leonard's case, he became cold, logical and ruthless. "An ambitious, selfish, brilliant, and utterly despicable man" as she would say. An exaggerated version of every trait commonly associated with adult men, I suspect that Jennifer may have taken this as an example to behave in the opposite way. I never had relatives like this. Not like this Nicholas Reitz. He sounds like a serious jagoff. Like the protagonist of a Cultivation novel but with that horrid mentality applied to real life. His influence may have been the one that well and truly scarred Jennifer's idea of "toxic masculinity" from then on.

4.JPG

Conversely, Jennifer must have seen her mother as a refuge from the harsh and brutal masculine world. And for that to all go tumbling down must have really added to that emotional toll... Had her late birth added to her mental health issues? Is she autistic? Someone behaving that erratically must have something wrong with them. It's an urge to have complete power over someone, treating them like an object which they can just yank back and forth between states as though you're flicking a light switch on and off. That must have created a state of complete helplessness. And like me, I assert that it drove her to a state of excessive daydreaming.

5.JPG

The funny thing is that there's been very little derision towards her in this thread. More like appreciation. What's happening on Kiwifarms is the same kind of awe and analysis we offer to the likes of Ullillilia. But now, when worldbuilding is en vogue, we're treating her how that second grade class did. "excused my flamboyant behaviour by the mystique of being a prodigy" no doubt we are. You're a 60 year old woman involved in subcultures whom we associate with brain damaged sub-morons in arrested development, and yet you turn the tables on every stereotype.

And then shit got bad. I remember freely associating with kids in year 7 and before, talking about whatever I liked. It was so easy to make friends that I joined in several short-lived projects to make our own comics. There was nothing cringeworthy about creativity. It was fun, and we understood what it was. And then people get mean. They get close-minded and embarrassed by everything in a precocious attempt at emulating adults. And then they throw their childhoods away in favour of trends and fashions. Ironically, as of the year 2020 creating a persona as a "child prodigy" is the current trend. Being a smartass by touting the popular views, that's what's encouraged today. Being a nerd is fashionable. And by nerd, I mean a jackass with glasses and a buttery haircut who constantly makes snide and sarcastic comments to the delight of the clique.

She was born in the wrong place, in the wrong time, to the wrong people.

6.JPG

Where this would be brought out and encouraged in the current day, she bottled it all up in a stifling identity crisis. And given the circumstances, the culture in which she was brought up in was overwhelmingly, cruelly masculine to the point where it tore her in half. It was a time when boys were far more independent and expected to be tough in ways that would be fucked up today. And here she was forced to behave in manners abhorrent to her very being, the facade she wore developed into its own self. A lingering demon of doubt and delusion. No doubt this gave her a repressed incentive - and boy, what a strong one it was - to seek even the slightest modicum of feminine influence.

DungeonMaster

7.JPG

God! This reinforces my previous point... forced to behave in a way that goes against her very identity, to the point where any traces of being otherwise were destroyed. I cannot imagine what this felt like. My parents were always apathetic of my hobbies and interests, which I devoted all my spare time to as a youngun, and living like this would have no doubt been an endless waking nightmare. Now this here demonstrates her fixation with childhood. She simply could not handle the expected transition to manhood. Any changes in her life she considered symbolic to losing said childhood, and until this day she attempts to recreate the mentality she had in that state. She must really treasure it.

So as I said before, this brewed her obsession with the childlike and the feminine, as demonstrated below.

8.JPG

That's some serious shit if I ever did see some. Now with the internet there's less stigma against boys enjoying feminine things. But here, holy hell, what drives someone to that length to embrace their inner self at the expense of their vitality? 14 times, are you for real now? That just shows me how much hostility she was subject to day after day to seek out something like that for comfort.

9.JPG

Hey, at least she enjoyed some nerd company.

And about that boy, we again have her visceral disgust for the traditionally masculine and the aggressive. Someone that emotionally sensitive would have, by any means, came out a wreck by the latter half of the millennium. One can only tell just how many antifa furries on twitter was brought up in a background like that.

10.JPG

Ha ha, Poo Poo Pillow.

11.JPG

And here we have another craving for children's media. I wonder if those toys played a role in her multiverse's worldbuilding. Most of us want to create fantasy novels after reading a good novel, or playing a video game, but she took the hard way and started with one foot on some toys.

"It obsessed me like Jihad to a Muslim" Now that's not very woke. Can't have you contradicting social protocol two decades in advance, can we?

She's one hell of a spender. Her attitude hardly changed when she splurged a great sum more than her allowance on anime merch years later. Jennifer's into toys, and doesn't hold back when anything's in between her.

On another note, I wonder if the "Happydiculous World of the Upsey Downsies" influenced Pastel Defender Heliotrope.. The continents, or "rectilands", as they are called, are basically giant flying bricks. Instead of gravity, the rectilands are influenced by a force called Proxikinesion. Which means anything on either side of the rectiland is pulled towards the ground. The caves in the middle have zero proxikinesion. The same is true for the air between them. The side facing up is called the Dayplains, and the ones facing below are called the Twilands.

Anyhow, I gotta sleep. Will post the next acts tomorrow. Ciao.

Considering Jennifer's real world attitude, what would she have committed as a transhuman demiurge to end up in humanity-prison?

I can only imagine Jennifer begged Stephen in such a manner. Perhaps this was her breaking point, like when OPL won that competition in his childhood.

...And the seeds are sown. If you want a more indepth look at how she felt, simply turn to her characters Fuschia, Chou, and KayWai, all metaphorical trannies and reclusive nerds in their own right.

Fundies, man. Their attitude paved the way for SJWs, as did the trauma they inflicted upon their millennial children, as we can see in this ur example. Looking at PDH, the Church of Godan was likely her way at stickin' it to the man. Like all drug fuelled countercultures that influences our modern zeitgeist, there is clearly a contempt for Christianity rooted in a stifling upbringing.
15.JPG

This reads like some Frank Kafka body horror shit. A super genius rooted in a childlike state, loathing the horrible mutations of adolescence. It's truly grotesque. I wonder how many other troons or incels we have threads about had this problem. She's like some kind of child prodigy in a YA book. Sure, it's trendy to pretend you're surrounded by bungling submorons in today's era of pretentiousness and pseudointellectualism, but like I said: she really is ahead of her time. Jennifer certainly didn't do this for attention, like Russel Greer. She is what all those iamverysmart types believe they are.

Some kind of Deviantart TF shit right here. Fuck, this is just nauseating to read. And the thing is, the world was probably a more demented place than it is now. Sure, we have the ability to record sociopathic behaviours since everyone's got a phone, but then we have eyewitness accounts from boomers. And then we have to wonder, without evidence: how often did this shit happen.

There was nothing like fundies in the 70s and 80s to completely fucking ruin the childhoods of any kid, boy or girl, who didn't fit into their view of 'acceptable' kids behaviour.

In my own case, it was a fundie vice principal of my high school. He would let the local 'pastor's daughter' put church events out over the morning PA address, and screen a film in the library over lunch about the evils of Dungeons & Dragons and how it leads to Satanism. After i sat in on that bullshit and once it was over stood and destroyed every stupid point that was made, she cried to this VP who already had me in his bad books for my open love for AD&D and running a 2 year long campaign with my group of likeminded friends, and convinced me it would be better to "leave" school. aka quit or be expelled.

I had no real understanding of my rights in this regard as a kid, even the schoolboard wouldn't have backed that kind of thing by the late 80s, but at least i only left for 1 semester, then re-enrolled, gave him the literal finger, and graduated only half a year late.

Today decades later, the pendulum has swung the other way and it's likely the kid who hates RPGs and is deeply religious would be the one labelled bully and whatever-phobe and 'advised to leave school'. Why the fuck can't 'educators' find a happy medium and let kids be whatever they want with out stuffing one or another ideology down their throats ffs??

er.....
And not a bit of it holds a candle to that first year writing Conversion Bureau stories, here on Fimfiction. It was the single happiest year of my life. It is eternal shame and a condemnation of humanity itself that it was forced to end the way it did, destroyed by evil man-children who only take joy in the pain of others, and by faithless fools who felt appeasing haters had value above maintaining friendships. I was not a misanthrope when I came here, but I am now because of here.

Fuck humans. I am convinced they are doomed to a nasty end of their own devising. No loss.

<snip>

Of course, I am sad that the Bureau genre was destroyed, that it will never be properly appreciated by the fandom, that it will be deliberately erased by those too ignorant to grasp it. But, that is, after all, the end of all endeavor here, on earth. Nothing lasts, not even your name, not even the memory of your time. All that history will ever keep is illusions of the past, the truth lost not for lack of documentation, but care, or social politics, or simple foolishness. Nothing remains of anything. So you must revel now, for there is no later, and you will be forgotten and all your works lost. And if you do anything profound, barbarians will crush it, for no other reason than it was a voice other than their own.

While i do have some small amount of respect for JDR as a creator of worlds, as a writer of words.....no. 'Absurdly good writer' is just way too much.
