Jedi: Fallen Order - Metroid: Darksider Souls - Legend of Sekiro.

With the titanic disappointment that is Episode 9 I was quite surprised nobody had made a thread about this - of only because Holy shit, EA allowed Respawn to make a single player game with a fully self contained, complete campaign and no DLC.

I completed it a little earlier so I'm still digesting, but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Its a lot closer to Darksiders than it is to Dark Souls, which was probably a big part of it for me; there's lots of abilities to unlock, a bunch of areas to explore and a decent loop of combat > explore > set piece > story.

Storyline kept me interested and felt like a decent star wars romp. There were several holy shit moments even a passing fan of the setting, like me, absolutely loved...and we're also spoiled by the marketing, allegedly angering the fuck out of the developers, Respawn.

Combat is clunky - heard it described as "Sekiro but mediocre" - and your character doesn't feel as precise or quick as he needs to be, but the powers are a lot of fun and tormenting Stormies with Pull and Push will never get old. I admit I turned down the difficulty to Story for the last couple of hours, but the sheer fucking spectacle of the closing act more than justified two Shotton everything, ha.

Good job EA. Let's see how you fuck it up later.

Enjoyed JFA, but next time Im playing it on max difficulty. A little too easy, not 1 rage quit.
I prefer Sekiro, rage quits and all. I prefer having to figure out boss and mob mechanics than solve puzzles.
But yeah dude I finished it within a few days, was very surprised by how much I enjoyed JFA.
I was sad when I finished it, I wanted to keep going.

Worth pirating?
I had funds from refunds from Steam, only reason I bought it. It has to install Origin to play it -_- bit annoying using Steam and Origin to run a game.
IMO worth pirating, fun game. Like @Near said, story is underwhelming. Game is fun though.
Edit: IMO game ends too fast, was expecting more for the price on steam

I haven't played it, but I am gonna say what I said in the Star Wars Griefing thread.

You are a Jedi..you see a Box..you have to do some platforming robot puzzle shit to get to said box to open it.

YOU ARE A JEDI.

Yeah, on more than one occasion it's been, "Oh no, I am stymied by this locked door, if only I had some kind of cutting device that could quickly burn through it." That bit aside, it's been a good game though.

JFO is ok fun. It’s very linear, point A to point B then point B to point A. I haven’t finished it yet because I’m swapping back and forth between this and Death Stranding, however I mainly bought it because it’s complete single player game, which EA hardly ever does anymore.

its a solid game, a bit too easy for my taste, but i enjoyed the combat quite a lot, and i appreciate that MP isnt shoved down my throat like every fucking game nowadays,

i had a blast playing through it on grandmaster difficulty, but ive always had a soft spot for combat that relies on learning enemy tells and precise parry timing. i had no complaints on the combat other than at the end when they decided to ramp up the difficulty by throwing a million enemies at you

That's when I lowered the difficulty. Cutting through them all like a buzz saw was fucking earned by that point.

It’s pretty decent, but the customisation options suck ass.

Yeah, this was my big issue with the game. Exploration in and out of itself was enjoyable, but the cosmetic options were shit - literal recolours of everything on your costume, and lightsaber parts you only ever notice when looking at them on the workbench.

Chest collectibles felt tacked on. Didn't need Diablo loot, but something more substantial than an orange or pink poncho lining would've been nice.

So many poncho options that I never used because I didn't like how the ponchos looked.

I rather enjoyed the puzzles as I prefer them to combat but mostly I was just excited that it was single player-only with no microtransactions or DLC. The story was okay but I liked the characters enough despite how cliche they could be. And I'm a tard so I like collecting things and the "collecting things" bit was good for me. Good music, too.

Is it worth getting now, or should I wait for a sale?

Speaking as someone that enjoyed Jedi Academy and is desperate for something good out of Star Wars this year.

It's already $10 off on Steam, that's probably the highest discount you'll see for at least a few months.

One thing to bear in mind though, even if you buy it through Steam when it runs it installs Origin, which came as an unpleasant surprise for me because I was lazy and didn't read the fine print.
