Would be sort of amusing if the TERFs decided to protest the lack of real women in the show since the majority of the "female" characters are troons, while the only real females consists of two old women and two bears. Having one gaggle of idiots cannibalize the other gaggle of idiots would be the best way for this show to go.

But regardless, even without the trannyism and whatnot, this show just sounded like a bad idea from the start. I mean who honestly gives a shit about lesser known HB characters these days outside of Scooby Doo and the Flintstones (and even those two are waning)? At best their old shows only make them popular among preschoolers (who honestly spend more time watching crappy youtube kids content or playing mobile games). Last time these characters were relevant was in the 90s and as cameos/extras in the 2000s on Harvey Birdman which appealed to the adult demographic that grew up with them, and which was actually written by people familiar with these properties and when HB were still alive, resulting in some good parody material initially. But most of their original audience and the HB team at WB that watched over them died out either literally or due to losing the nostalgia appeal for what were basically runtime and rerun fillers.

They're desperately trying to make these characters relevant again after dozens of failed attempts at revitalizing them, and not realizing that they're a product of their time. These types of characters and their designed would be best aimed at the preschool demographic, but that's clearly not the intent of this show which is trying to be some sort of mature sitcom with cartoonish violence, right down to having one of the characters be sued for medical malpractice or trying to deal with debts, bankruptcy and real estate issues (and the rest just being troons) which is definitely something only adult audiences would understand and maybe find interesting. And from what I'm hearing, Johnny Quest seems to be gay for his own step-brother.

Then again... a lot of kids grew up in the 90s watching these thanks to Cartoon Network reruns, and those same kids grew up to be manchild Steven Universe fans. So they're probably trying to appeal to that demographic...

Pretty much why I think even bringing back these toons and trying to make them popular seems pointless. Out of all these rerun fillers, the only ones that had any long lasting popularity were Flintstones and Scooby Doo, but even those aren't what they used to be (and the Scooby fandom is just plain creepy imo). The original HB toons were shitty and cheap looking just like most cartoons of the 60s, but you'd think they would at least bother to make this new shit look decent. I mean its Current Year after all.

This new crap doesn't even have anything in common with the originals other than recycling their names and designs and will do little to raise interest in even the original crap. Only reason this exists is to try and encourage people to watch the old HB toons on HBO Max, which is unlikely outside of boomers and xoomers, and the few who actually end up liking this new crappy cartoon definitely won't like the old shows.

It makes me lol how Cartoon Network and now HBO wants to shove these bland Baby Boomer cartoon creations down the throat of another generation.

I remember Cartoon Network playing the original cartoons and constantly advertising them like they were cultural icons. Their very best asset were the catchy theme songs, that's it.

I can guarantee no one went "OMG it's Jabberjaw & Top Cat!" Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law was the only time these characters were used well and it was funny just to see these silly one note characters in absurd legal dramas and political satires. The Birdgirl spinoff likely would have been a trainwreck no matter what with its modern SJW friendly sensibilities but it undoubtedly hurt production that they couldn't keep the HB characters.

Odd that the Flintstones, Scooby and maybe the Jetsons aren't a part of this since they're the biggest HB properties.

They probably want to do something bigger with those. They just had that SD movie and IIRC they’re working on a Flintstones reboot. I favour the idea that this is primarily a means of keeping otherwise unused characters in the public eye.

Seems like they really are going the Trans route with some of the characters, since it's apparently been confirmed by a couple of people who work on the show

Hanna-Barberra were budget made for TV cartoons that had only one appeal - they were quick and cheap to produce so they could jump on current trends and reflect the fads the kids were currently into. This is why so much of it is outdated cringe (or fascinating nostalgia, take your pick.) It's inevitable that any current incarnation would jump on the tranny/SU/ Adventure time/CalArts trend because that is what the Electric Jew wants to push onto American kids right now.

Incidentally I e-mailed an ex-Hanna-Barbera staffer (who worked there for decades) the trailer for his thoughts, and here's what he said about it:

The Jellystone! trailer does nothing for me. It was obviously made for young children so it has no entertainment value for teens or young adults. It really has no relationship to the former HB shows.

There are animators who can work out how to animate the H-B characters in a way that actually works, but the animation industry clique doesn't want them, so their talents are wasted on predatory loan commercials.
