I would fall flat on my ass in shock if Yaniv were actually denied service only for being "trans." Most fast food employees in Canada these days are temporary foreign workers who probably haven't been exposed to the phenomenon of transgender people. Plus, I imagine a fast food employee in Vancouver has to serve all sorts of weird people all day long. I worked in fast food long ago in the 90s and had to serve all sorts of screwy people. I was happy when people weren't rude and didn't mess up the place. A transgender person would be no big deal, unless he was being a major league asshole about something,

It didn't happen. The manager was present during Yaniv's visit and said Yaniv simply chose an immigrant cashier, ordered, got his food, and left. No complaints at the time, no conflict with the staff. Then he filed a dramatic complaint with corporate.

Manager could be lying, but since Yaniv lies constantly and does so to make mischief and scarf up comps from companies - like demanding Air Canada refund his airfare because a kid sitting behind him kicked his seat - I believe the liar in the NYFries saga is Yaniv.

I wouldn't surprised if Jonathan is going to claim that he asked to use the women's bathroom and the employee said no. Not because Johnny boy is trans fat but because there is no customer bathroom. The employee may not have been able to explain that, perhaps due to a long line of customers or lack of English or any other reason.

Note: I don't believe for a second that this is what happened; rather, I think this is what the law suit - if he carries through with his threat - will be about.

Edit: I think that Yaniv is going to ask for a moderate sum of money and is counting on the company settling out of court / tribunal, rather than going through the trouble of defending it.

They wouldn't say "no" though, they'd say there are no bathrooms in the premises and to use the mall's facilities instead.

How can they KNOW he’s a woman? By his logic, they cannot. So they have to guess, and if they guess and say “sir,” that’s an honest mistake.

Oh, but, you misunderstand entirely!

See, the idea is, in a nutshell, that you approach an individual you've never met like so:

"Why, hello there, dear contemporary of as of yet undetermined gender identity! May I ask your pronouns, please, so that I may address you?"

At which point you're supposed to be all "ooooooh" and "aaaaaaaah" and use the words "brave" and "stunning".

It doesn't actually matter that much whether you ever really get to the point you wanted to make - such as the fact that they have a toilet paper trail hanging out of their skirt.
